A book everyone will enjoy
The Nutt children, Chess and Praline, loved to have pretend adventures. They wished and wished they would have an adventure of their own. When Chess falls out of their tree home and Praline jumps out to save him, the Nutt children get raked up and their real life adventure begins! Will the Nutt kids survive their nutty adventure?!?
This is a hilarious picture book! I love the names of the Nutt family, Filbert, Hazel, Chess and Praline (come on, that's FUNNY). The adventure the Nutt kids go on is exciting but not too scary for younger kids. The illustrations are really cool too. The last page of the book has some acorn facts like "Acorns are a food source for pigs, deer, woodpeckers, bears, squirrels and mice, but they are toxic to horses."
I think everyone will enjoy this fun read!
Cute story about acorns in action
The Nutt Family is a cute story about a brother and sister acorn who have an unexpected adventure outside of their family "tree house." Ms. Muse incorporates clever names for each of the acorns related to nuts such as Chess, Praline, Filbert, and Hazel.
The story is reminiscent of C.S. Lewis's The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe where the children go from pretend to a real life adventure. Chess and Praline face a number of perils during the adventure but stay focused in their quest to get back home.
The great illustrations, layout, and use of color flow smoothly to complement the storyline.
For early elementary grade teachers, the end of the book includes a set of facts about acorns that could provide for a good class project. This story is sure to be a hit with the kids.
Favorite Bedtime Adventure
We love this book. My daughter asks us to read it to her every night. The words are big so when she started reading she will have no trouble. The digital illustrations are also great. Bright and colorful.
