Leslie walked into the spacious living room of her third floor Sacramento condominium that was elegantly furnished with tasteful yet terribly expensive furniture. She stood momentarily in front of the large bay window and looked out at the night sky that was illuminated by the massive floodlights that lit up the dome of the capitol located just two blocks away. She was barefoot, wearing only a cream colored silk negligee with a matching peignoir cover. She had just finished applying a spritz of her signature perfume and its faint smell lingered. Leslie glanced at the clock on the mantel above the fireplace which showed it was 10:00 p.m. Her special guest for the evening was scheduled to arrive at any moment and she knew he would soon be ringing the door buzzer.
When it rang, she pushed the button, activating the door lock in order to let him into the building. Leslie looked around one final time as the quote by Christine Keeler floated across her mind, “Discretion is a polite word for hypocrisy.”
She heard the elevator door open followed a few seconds later by a soft knock on her door. She opened the door and standing in the threshold before her was one of the most powerful men in the United States, the governor of the great state of California. She smiled warmly at him and said, "Welcome, Governor. I've really missed you."

Tea Party Teddy
If you love politics, and have a good sense of humor, this is the book for you. Anyone who has dealt with Sacramento, politically, will find alot of truth in what the author describes. This book is fiction and based on the author's deep and continued involvment in the political scene in Sacramento over many years. The extreme right wing politically oriented readers may not like the book, as the truth makes many uncomfortable. My husband and I are both politically involved and enjoyed the book, knowing that it was fiction based upon some elements of reality.
Compelling, Rewarding, Competent
I couldn't wait to read "Tea Party Teddy" by Dianne Harman ever since I finished her debut novel "Blue Coyote Hotel" to see where this promising and sharp minded writer would take her creative career. Tea Party Teddy is a perfect follow up, playing once again with themes of corruption and political ideals. Cleverly set up and plotted the book follows a Republican politician on his evil, ruthless and harmful campaign trail, the enemies he makes and the debt he builds and the impact of his career on his private life.
Harman does an excellent job at creating great suspense by planting plenty of plot seeds in the beginning of the book that push the story forward at perfect pace. As the story unfolds the author writes with insightful details and competent manner about the party politics, the lobbyists and corruption, infidelity and revenge.
You love to hate Teddy and with so much going on and emotions and politics going wild this is great entertainment and a fascinating and educational novel written with excellent sense for irony and dry sense of humour.
A very compelling and rewarding read with a moral component and a lot of bite.
Political eye-opener
We all know politics is filled with strange bedfellows, some who are out for everything they can get and others who pander to anyone and everyone. Tea Party Teddy is a story that captures the down and dirty nature of politics to a tee (pun intended). Dianne Harman knows the inner workings of California politics and brings it to light in this interesting novel. While I don't know much about California politics, I can see the same characteristics in all the other states in which I have lived.
Multiple plot twists, romance and the always present battle between good and evil are all part of this book. Excellent job Dianne. Now, I think I'll read Blue Coyote Motel.
