“Dad,” I whispered as I pulled away and wiped my tears, “I need you to do something.”
“Of course, Renny, what is it?”
I took a few deep breaths. “For now, I have the other part of me under control, but I don’t know how long it will last. That dream you had…I think I know what caused all that destruction. If I change again, everyone here could die. By my hand.”
He shook his head. “No…not you.”
“I need you to put an end to it.”
His eyes widened. “What are you saying?”
“I feel it, Dad, inside me—this rage and hunger for flesh and blood. I killed Althea, and I can’t bear the thought of hurting anyone else. No one can fix this. It’s the only way.”
He shook his head vehemently. “It can’t be.”
I closed my eyes. With all the concentration I could muster, I held back the monstrous thing that thrashed against the cage of my consciousness, demanding release. I trembled. Sweat poured from my forehead. I opened its mental prison for a split second and allowed only a tiny fraction of the carnal instinct to escape. I slammed the imagined cage door closed again and looked back up at Dad.
He nearly fell off the bed. “Renny, what’s wrong with your eyes?”
The grating edge in my voice chilled me to the core. “You have to end it, Dad. Jayden won’t. Lilly won’t. It has to be you.”
He covered his mouth with the back of his hand. His words were muffled. “No, no. Please Renny, no.”
I closed my eyes and whispered, “It has to be you.”

I loved this book more than the first one! Serenya is a beautiful character, and I felt so bad for her that she didn't find Jayden years ago before she married Sebastian. I really loved how in-depth the writer portrayed Jayden, especially after his role in A Ranger's Tale.
The plot kept me guessing at every turn, which is something I enjoy immensely. The love story was there, but it had enough excitement and adventure that I can't classify it in my mind as a romance. The ending totally had me going "wow."
I love the way Mysti Parker writes, and I can't wait for the next in this series.
EVEN BETTER THAN BOOK 1 IN THIS SERIES!
I thought book 1 in the Tallenmere series was good but Serenya's Song surpasses it! The action scenes are so descriptive and alive you feel your really there.
Jayden moves to Summerwind after his divorce with Caliphany. He is ready to get over that relationship and move on with his life in a new town, make a fresh start. Well it doesn't start off good when he is instantly attracted to the Earl's Wife. They have some unexpected run ins after meeting the first night in her Father's pub and the story grows from there. The characters are so well developed and realistic it makes it easy for you to see this story play out like a movie in your mind.
Serenya Crowe has a mysterious past. She is the product of Rape, no one knows who her real Father is and she has claws for hands. She is married to the Earl of Summerwind and things started out so well but lately she feels her Husband is falling out of love and is being intimate with other Women. Crushed by the fact he comes home smelling of Women's perfume she leaves the house in the middle of the night to get some air and has a run in with Jayden. She's also instantly attracted to him, not just because he is gorgeous but because of his kindness and he treats her with the respect she doesn't get from the Earl. Also the fact that they have so much in common, a love for music and poetry.
Serenya is ready to give up everything to have Jayden until she gets a vision. Serenya can see the future through visions and dreams.What she sees leaves her having to decide between what her heart wants and saving a man she cares for.
Jayden gets busy with a situation going on in Summerwind and Serenya is starting to go through some unexplained developments. A hunger for raw meat and blood. The Earl tells her she's going crazy just like her Mother did and that he will care for her like no other. But is he the right person to care for her?
Mysti Parker has really created a magical world with the Tallenmere series. Full of mystical creatures, adventure, battles between good and evil and lust and love that will overfill your heart. The characters are so in depth you make a emotional connection with them and that goes for the seconary characters as well. Very well written book and I hope you all grab a copy and get sucked into this series!

The Damsel
Serenya Crowe is the perfect damsel in distress. Not only is she trapped in a marriage so bad that it would make perfect talk show fodder. She also has to deal with the fact that she was a product of rape, she has no idea of the identity of her father, and she has claw-like fingers that cause her to have to wear gloves.
Her Knight
Jayden Ravenwing is everything that Serenya needs: warm, artistic, loving, heroic, and ohhhhh sooo sexy.
The problem...
Well, besides the fact that Serenya is married to a tyrannical Earl who refuses to let her out of his sight. He is also getting over the loss of his wife, and trying to solve the mystery of the strange portal that lies at the edge of the Earl's property.
The Foil
Earl Sabastian Crowe has the world, or at least Summerwind by the tail and he knows it. He is a handsome, charismatic, rich, liar?

Though this book is the second in the Tallenmere series, it reads like a stand alone. The story hooks readers from the first page and pulls him or her along at a nice pace throughout. Readers will be happy to note that though this read would be considered fantasy on par with Tolkien; there is a surprising lack of confusing name or language jargon that seems a hallmark of the genre. This reader-friendly tale is a treasure trove of sex, lies, and monsters.
The love triangle involving Serenya, Jayden, and Sabastian is steamy enough to stand alone as a reason to read this; but when paired with all of the other elements of this captivating read...it proves to be part of a saga not to be missed.
Serenya's Song is a deliciously decadent dip in the ever-deepening waters of Romantic High Fantasy.
