Megan Martin was an average teenager. She felt cheated when her grandfather died and grandmother sold her pony when she was 12. Now with her best friend May, they return to help grandmother save the farm. They discover ancient mysterious artifacts. Among them is one that looks like a crown and gives them astounding powers. It transports them to and strands them on a living spaceship filled with specimens in hibernation. All the aliens they find on board are in hibernation and the girls have the run of the place.
The girls meet one challenge after another as they work to solve the mysteries. Finding the crown's charging station, they discover two more control crystals. When unsuspecting Megan uses the silver crystal she literally downloads an energy angel that becomes part of her. Now she's half human, half angel and totally awesome. They discover the great elders are behind the plot and want them to give humanity a fighting chance against a joint fallen angel/alien invasion. Now Megan just wants her life back but she can't get rid of Ember, the angel who lives within her.
Filled with demons, aliens, and assorted bad guys, the girls deal with MIBs, ghosts, and a ruthless business man as they unravel the mysteries and learn what they must do. Along the way they make new friends including a doctor, an actress with a mysterious past, a Russian spy, and a few aliens. Some are given quarters on board their delta class lightship.
The first Ember Reign novel introduces the main characters of the series and explains how they come into posession of what might be considered alien technology.
The story beings with a prologue with Megan as Ember Reign saving a famliy from thier burning home in the middle of a Winter storm.
She tells the young Chloe she reminds her of another girl she once knew.
Chapter 2 we move to Megan when she was 12 years old living on the farm with her grandparents. He grandpa is a farmer but also a part time archologist like his father before him. Each of them have found artifacts they believe were not of this world. These things were hidden by them on the farm.
Grandpa buys Megan a pony but following certain events Megan is sent home and her grandpa dies under mysterious curcumstances. Grandma sells her pony back to the man who they bought it from. Megan feels betrayed and doesn't speek to her grandma for years after that.
Megan and her best friend May are called upon to return and help grandma save the farm and this is where the fun beings.
The Crown is the first of the Ember Reign novels. It is mostly mystery. Anyone who enjoyed Nancy Drew will enjoy following along as the mysteries unfold. Learn how the girls discover the "medallion" and the crown device. Misadventures follow with their first attempts to use the crown.
There's a new farm hand helping grandma on the farm, his name is Jud and he's a hobo who lives in the East barn. He carries a hatchet all the time.
There are other things happening on the farms nearby and not all is as it seems. Join Megan and May as they learn the secrets and deal with underhanded people as Megan becomes Ember Reign.
