After Andrea returns home from her Hawaiian vacation she discovers she is pregnant. Not knowing what to do or where to turn, she tracks down the father of her child. This leads her into a downward spiral into drugs and alcohol. She fears she will end up an alcoholic like her mother, but she gets to a point where she is beyond caring.

Eventually she is determined to track down Sammy Hall, but he does not seem to be the man she met in Hawaii. She discovers secrets about Samuel Gregory Hall in a place called Sharotska, where she has to return one more time to make sense of it all.
