Travel the stars from the comfort of your own home… Is there such a thing as Astral Travel? If Astral Travel really does exist, then how do you do it? This book is a guide to the process of Astral Travelling, and outlines exactly what it is, and more importantly, how to do it! Once you learn how to Astral Travel, it will change your whole concept of the universe. We live in the third dimension. However, we do enter the fourth dimension when we sleep. Unfortunately, we seldom remember our experiences unless we have the ability to ‘Lucid Dream’. Astral Travel opens up the possibility of not only consciously entering the fourth dimension, but also visiting other realms, making contact with those who have passed over, and even viewing a record of what we have done in this lifetime, as well as other lifetimes too...

Excerpt

Introduction
One morning I awoke with a start from a very deep sleep - it was our neighbour going to work at 6.30am, attempting to break the world record for the loudest front door slam! I was in some far off galaxy on a strange planet with a creature that shape shifted. It was a bit like being part of the latest science fiction block buster. Reality beckoned with the prospect of another day on Earth, much to my relief as the dream was quite intense, and despite the problems we have on this planet, it was much more pleasurable than being out there with all of those very strange beings. I had not long finished my book Knights of Madness - The Quest for Spiritual truth, and I just put it down to my subconscious mind playing tricks on me.
Stumbling downstairs, I suddenly had the thought that perhaps there was more to my dream than I imagined?
It then suddenly dawned on me that I had been astral travelling. This is a very strange subject, and one which, if you generally start talking about, you end up with the opportunity of doing a lot more talking to the men in white coats!
I then got to thinking that I must have been astral travelling for years, and that most of us do this in our sleep. I also began to recount the strange experiences I had had, which all began to fit nicely into the concept of astral travel. I felt another book coming on, and so, I have done my best to explain about the whole process and make it into The Astral traveller's Guide to the Universe…
Astral Travel
Astral travel (or projection as it is sometimes referred to) is an out-of-body experience, that assumes the existence of an astral body, which is separate from the physical body, and capable of traveling outside of it. Astral travel denotes the astral body leaving the physical body, and travelling on the astral plane.
The idea of astral travel is portrayed in many religious accounts of the afterlife, in which the consciousness or soul journeys, or ascends to heaven. The spiritual traveller leaves the physical body, and travels in the subtle body (or dream body, or astral body) into higher realms. It is associated with near death experiences, and is also frequently reported as spontaneously experienced in association with sleep and dreams, illness, surgical operations, drug experiences, sleep paralysis, and forms of meditation.
It is sometimes attempted out of curiosity, or be part of some form of spiritual practice. It may involve travel to higher realms called astral planes, but is commonly used to describe any sensation of being out of the body in the everyday world. It can also involve seeing your own body from outside or above.
Surveys have suggested that at least half of those questioned, have in some way, had this sort of experience. However, it can not be proved scientifically, and relies on the accounts of those who have experienced it.
Well, I have experienced such a thing, although at the time, I was not quite sure just what I had experienced!
My earliest childhood memories are a bit hazy on the subject, as somewhere I have been left with the feeling that in some way I did indeed fly!
At first, to me, the whole concept seemed nothing more that fanciful imagination - jumping up, flapping my arms, and levitating slightly off the ground for a few seconds. I am sure that all children have done this, as it is what children do. How many of us have swung from a curtain imitating a super hero, only to find that the curtain and rail come crashing down, and then having to face an irate parent!
I would have put it all down to my imagination, if I had not experienced other strange events when I became an adult.
It was now November 92’, and I was a student - a struggling one at that! The previous two months had proved to be very difficult academically, and I felt well and truly out of my depth. I was profoundly dyslexic as a child and could only read and write due to the considerable efforts of my wonderful mother. My early life has been documented in my book A Way of Being - The Journey to Spiritual Enlightenment, and there is little point going over the whole story here. Suffice to say that I did indeed gain some qualifications which enabled me to go to university as a mature student. I had also ventured into the music industry and had co-owned a recording studio, after several unsuccessful attempts trying to make my way as a recording artist.
I still had half a studio back at home, and bumped into someone interested in recording some music, which seemed far more viable than my ill-fated attempt at academia! So, a meeting was arranged and I was duly picked up on the way to an isolated country pub just over the Welsh border. It is quite usual to discus anything regarding music in a pub, and although I am not much of a drinker, at least the place was warm and cosy - the weather was bitterly cold, with a light dusting of snow, which preceded a rather heavy frost.
The meeting went quite well and I found a good friend, someone who shared my love of music. On the way back my usual car sickness reared its ugly head. From early childhood it had plagued me, sometimes I could get away with it, and on other occasions, it would start the minute the key was turned in the ignition. I had been lucky on the way out here, but on the way back it started. I had only had the one pint, which I had sipped all evening, much to the anguish of the landlord - he was not going to become rich form my takings!
The heaters in the car were on full blast, and it rapidly turned into what can only be described as an oven. Heat is one thing that usually triggers off my car sickness, and only after half a mile, I had to ask for the car to be stopped. I needed some fresh air, and to walk about for a few minutes whilst my stomach settled. It was bitterly cold, with Arctic air meeting me as I ventured outside. After a few paces, I felt considerably worse, as the contrast between the heat and the cold struck me. I felt dreadful, and stumbled as I thought that I was going to faint.
All of a sudden, I was hit by what felt like a beam of light, everything went brilliant white and I felt myself being shot up towards the moon, which was shining out fully in all its splendour. It was an extraordinary feeling, and one so very difficult to explain. The closest that I can come to is what it must feel like to be in a circus act and shot out of a cannon. It was a feeling of total weightlessness, and all I could see was a brilliant white light, which had engulfed me. I do not remember any visions, voices or colours, just the light and feeling euphoric love. Every molecule seemed to be vibrating in harmony as I shot upwards. It felt as though there was a great big white trampoline in the sky that looked just like the moon, and I bounced off it without any sensation. Everything happened so quickly that I had no chance to think, just feel. If I had had the time to think, then I would have been terrified!
There was absolutely no fear, just a deep trust and an inner knowledge that I would be safe, as I felt a deep love emanating from within and around me. If I was a religious person, then I would be saying that I had quite literally been touched by the Hand of God. There are just no words to describe the whole event, other than to say that I felt different. It could be said that I was feeling the effects of the alcohol, but I had only had the one pint, and that was a cider shandy!
Time actually felt as though it was standing still, and that moment seemed to last for hours, and when I came back to earth only a few seconds had passed. I just stood there in a state of shock wondering what had happened to me. I was not the only one, as when I got back into the car I looked like a ghost!
I decided to keep my experience to myself, and was very relieved when I saw the front door to my house. It would take me many years to fully understand what had happened to me…
So, what did happen to me?
Well, my soul temporarily left my body!
At this point it is worth clarifying just exactly what the soul really is.
The soul exists in three parts:
• The mind
• The body
• The spirit
We are in fact a complex coalition of these three component parts. First there is the mind, which actually exists in every cell of the body - the brain is just the processor. It is hard to imagine that in fact 99% of the body is actually empty space. The second part is the body, which is the vessel which carries the mind and soul/spirit. The third and most important part is the spirit/soul. The soul exists in the empty space within the body, and in what is termed as the auric field.
For those who are not familiar with the auric field, it is an energy field which surrounds the human body. It can be seen by psychics and photographed by a Kirlian Camera. The camera is named after Semyon Kirlian who in 1939 accidentally discovered that if he connected a voltage to a photographic plate the image showed the energy fields around the human body. These energy fields look like layers of coloured energy, and these colours represent the emotional state of the person being photographed at that given moment.
All three component parts live in a coalition, and each has its own identity. The soul exists in the body where it relinquishes its freedom to be contained within the body. When the body is asleep the soul leaves as it finds the constraints of the body too restricting, and it recharges its proverbial batteries. On certain occasions the soul can also leave the body in a waking state. This out of body experiences is referred to as consciousness raising.
The dream state is the nearest that we can normally experience this, as we are in our light body. The light body is our pure energy state, and it can not only be seen, but also manipulated.
This is the basic information, although if we are considering the subject of astral travel, then we need to go into far greater detail. It is important to have an understanding of not just how we exist within our basic three component parts, but we also need to know more about the subject if we are to undertake astral travel.
If you consider that the human body is just a vessel, and what we term as life, as being conscious, then the body is only conscious when it is inhabited by the soul.
Only about 10% of the brain is conscious, as the remaining 90% is made up of the subconscious. The subconscious is the mysterious grey matter, which a lot of scientists and medical experts have difficulty understanding. There are many different theories, and the basic question posed is - if we only use about 10% of our brain then what do we do with the other 90%?
The other 90% is where memories are stored. Everything that we have ever thought, or experienced is recorded, and this recording, never ceases from the moment our soul enters our body before birth, until the moment it leaves after death.
This is where the difficulty lies, as we are far more complicated than just being a lump of flesh and blood which can think for itself. Consciousness has been eloquently described by René Descartes as I think, therefore I am, however, there is a far more important part of us which is referred to as the higher self.
