“Are you following me, kid?” Jack turned to face him, getting his first real look at the young man in the soft light of the fast approaching dawn.
Oh yeah, the kid was a looker. Dark blond hair, just that little bit too long as it curled over the collar of his jacket, an angel’s face and the biggest, bluest, most entrancing eyes Jack had ever seen; if the guy had been a girl, Jack would’ve probably wolf-whistled and sworn everlasting love. But the harmonious features, the high cheekbones, the finely chiselled jaw, right down to the cute nose were all definitely, almost overwhelmingly, masculine - even though the perfect pout would’ve made any of those movie star women he had seen in the flickers green with envy.
Well, shit. The guy would be more trouble than a sack full of bees. Jack knew what the future held for someone with those kinds of looks; he wouldn’t get a moment’s peace in the camps or indeed any of the places Jack frequented. The older man told himself that ditching the guy... the KID now would save him a world of hurt later - it was for the best. Besides, Jack couldn’t afford the complication. And Daniel WAS complication in a way Jack even refused to look too closely into.
