In a magical world far, far away. . .no, that's not quite true, because it's not all about the magical world. Which, doesn't even exist. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it doesn't. But even if it did, well, there's some stuff in the book that take place in the non-magical world. That does actually exist. Although, in this case, it isn't real because the book is fiction, with made-up places and people in both the magical and non-magical world.
You see, it's somewhat complicated because in the made-up world of the real world there's this boy named Larry Totter. He ends up going to this school in the made-up magical world. A school that teaches boys and girls and teens and such, how to do magic. Not card tricks and rabbits out of hats magic, but the good stuff like...well, you'll find out. Mind you, the main reason for these young people attending this elite, make believe, magic school is to become pretty famous, so they can go to go to premieres for the movie version of the book and,well, make a load of money.
Not that you, as the reader, are ever going to make lots of money reading the book. But you will get to meet some interesting characters like: Larry Totter, Reggie Beasley, Hurtmine (it's pronounced Hurt-my-knee) Rangerover, Head Honcho Albatross Mumblemore, Dubeus Witchgon, Mistress McGargoyle, Snideus Snipe...Larry's (he's the main chracter, eh) archenemy Dracula MaMroy. Oh-oh-oh! and the Number 1 bad guy of all, Larry's nemesis...He Whose Name Should Not Be Named aka Duke Vaultamoat.
Well, you really should just read the book. It's pretty funny. Least ways people who reviewed it thought so. They said stuff like: "There are people who think they can write parody. People who think they've read parody. But trust me, this is parody at its best. Topham is a master." And, "Funny and just the right touch for any 'Potter fan' who needs a break from all the books being churned out by She Who Should Not Be Named." And "It's an award winner for good reason. A delight." And "Bloody brilliant, Harry!"
