Eva thinks that after joining her new friend's society, she has entered the Gates of Heaven. But in reality, she has entered the Gates of Hell.

The beast pointed toward the mansion with his long, claw like finger. Eva bolted toward the house. The scent of her daughter floated heavily in the cool, spring air. She was so near that she could almost taste her.
As she drew closer to the house, she slowed. She had to be careful now. She didn't want to screw up the entire thing now that she was so close. In just a few short moments, she would have her prey.
Christine was still sitting by the tree, reading her Bible. Eva could feel the resistance. But she thought she could break through. Her daughter wasn't as powerful as the praying men. And Eva had the borrowed strength of the beast.
Hiding behind the huge oak tree, Eva spotted her daughter. She stood still, watching. Anyone who would have been watching would have sworn that Eva moved with the stealth of a cat.
She wanted desperately to pounce. But she waited for the perfect moment. It won't be long now, just a few more seconds. Be calm. Be still. Wait until just the right moment. Wait until she stops reading. Wait until the power of the Bible releases its hold on her.
She could feel the watchful eye of the beast as she waited. She could feel his eyes burning into her as he waited for her to get to her daughter. She could feel his rage, his hatred penetrating her to her very soul.
Eva made her move. She jumped out from behind a tree, the butcher knife held high above her head.
“We’re going to use nine megaton warheads in space and we’re not sure they’re large enough to be effective. Why would you even consider using kiloton-range surface-to-air warheads as back-up?” The answer was succinct. “Because they’re all we have.”
