Horror/thriller novel entitled “Touched by Choi”. The story is similar to the concept of horror seen in today's market but it adds a new dimension by creating a sense of vivid realism or the possibility that 'these things might really exist today’, in the reader's mind. It is a dark thriller.
Several archeologists mentain that there is a mystry surrounding the mythology and beliefs of certain ancient American civilizations, How did apparently complex civilizations emmerge in almost total isolation? What accounted for their inexplicably self-destructive behaviour?
Touched By Choi is set in a small seaside town in present day America, where these ancient gods and beliefs become real. The god Zorma demands human sacrifice. It sends out choi into believers.
Jonas Swazool, is suddenly overwhelmed by strange happenings around him. People seem to be changing all around. His friend and fellow caricaturist, Connie Kelly suddenly doesn’t seem the same… her head is larger…her features, distorted. She suddenly seems to be spending a lot of money.
Jonas seems to be the only one unaffected in the small town. He stumbles into the most macabre horror imaginable. A religious cult-- an ancient being, worshipped beyond time. Throughout it all, he narrowly escapes conversion and even death. Affairs build up to an interesting crescendo, and the horror becomes too large to imagine. Jonas ultimately uncovers the true nature of the gods which guide thier lives, and the discovery changes him beyond imagination.
"Wolfgang Niesielski is a writer with a touch for the dramatic, macabre humor and heightened suspense."
Excerpt
He slipped on something slimy and lost his footing, ending up where he
started. He tried to support his body on his hands, pushing up his
upper body but slipped off the metal bar again.
Then he looked down and finally realized that he was sitting on some
kind of giant grill. A whole huge cage on all sides—even the floor—sup-ported
by solid metal bars, filled with more than a dozen human beings,
and suspended from the ceiling by cables. The underside of the cage
featured a layer of feces-covered wire mesh. He seemed to be imprisoned
in some kind of giant chicken coop. As soon as he realized that, an
ice-cold stream of cold water hit his back and knocked him forward.
The creatures around him erupted in ear-splitting wailing sounds and
Jonas cursed and spit out water and slime.
