BEWARE THE SANDMAN-HE’LL PUT YOU TO SLEEP. . .FOREVER
A serial killer on the loose, a woman with a psychotic stalker and a homicide detective who must find the connection before it’s too late.
He collects women. Imprisons them. Plays with them. Tortures them. He gathers souvenirs. His trophies are many.
LOCK YOUR DOORS AND PULL THE SHADES
Meagan McInnis is being psychologically tormented. Her dog has become restless. He barks incessantly, but when peering out into the darkened abyss, there’s no one in sight. The image of a pair of eyes staring back from the pitch haunts her. The phone startles her awake, only dead air answers her plea. Until the night she stumbles upon a grisly display in her garden.
THE CALLER IS SILENT NO MORE
Seasoned, Homicide Detective, J.J. Thomas, is working his most horrific case to date, and he’s seen some pretty gruesome things in his time. The monster he’s hunting ranks up there with Ed Gein. He wouldn’t be surprised to find lampshades made out of human skin in the psycho’s living room.
THEY CALL HIM THE SANDMAN
With no one else available, Thomas is called out to a crime scene in the wee hours of the morning. He’s told to pass the case off as soon as possible, so he can focus on his own investigation. But that’s before he realizes the ghastly exhibit and his case are linked. Better yet, that Meagan McInnis, is the key to discovering the Sandman’s true identity.
SWEET DREAMS
With his department grossly understaffed, only he and his partner, Shadowhawk, can see to Meagan’s safety. At the same time delve deep into her past to uncover just how she became the obsession of this sadistic killer before she becomes his next prize.

Excerpt
Sean climbed out of the water with his surfboard under his arm. He dragged his hand down his face to brush the salt water from his eyes. His breathing was labored, he’d gotten in a good workout today. He walked up the beach a ways before he detected a strange odor. As he neared his destination, the stench invading his nostrils became more pungent. I hope there wasn’t another damn sewage spill.
Soon he heard a strange buzzing sound. He stopped, brows furrowed, and concentrated on zeroing in on the exact location of the noise. Failing at this, he shrugged, and then continued up the strand. With each step his uncertainty grew. The irritating cacophony had increased in volume.
Within seconds he found himself about fifty-feet from where he’d left his gear. Before him lay a blanket of black, it appeared to be moving. “What the Hell?” He hesitated before taking another step. He waited for the synapse in his brain to start firing.
When he found no logical explanation, he gently rested his board on the sand and made his way closer until he stood directly in front of the sight. His hand cupped his nose. The stench reminded him of hard-boiled eggs gone bad, very very bad.
Okay, strike the moving blanket crack, it was more like a black cloud hovering over his belongings. Flies. He had an inkling it was not the seaweed they were interested in. Something dead had washed up on shore and he was less than eager to find out what it was. His mind conjured up a few possibilities; a seagull, a fish, a seal? Whatever it was, it would not be pretty no matter how long it had been dead.
With slow deliberate movements he reached down to pick up his sweater with one hand, while the other reached for the strap on his backpack, his actions no more cautious than if he were lifting a bomb.
Once disturbed, the flies swarmed up for a brief moment, just long enough to reveal their prey, before settling back down into a dark writhing carpet.
An unintelligible sound escaped his lips. He gasped for air while instinctively taking a step back. He’d seen some hairy things in his life, but nothing even close to this. Icy fingers of fear raced up his spine, his heartbeat hammered in his chest.
Sean couldn’t look away even if he had wanted to. Some strange fascination took hold of his brain and wouldn’t let go. Systematically his mind dissected the grizzly scene before him.
Sticking out of the rolling mound of seaweed was a woman's arm, stiff as a mannequin’s, extending skyward as if reaching to him for help. The mottled blue hand wore long red fingernails, two of which had been broken down to the quick. Seaweed wrapped around her arm like a feather boa.
His gaze then locked onto another object protruding from the sandy grave. A leg severed mid-thigh, but closer inspection revealed it was really half-buried. It too appeared tangled in the bubbly brown vegetation.
The foot, like the hand, wore a shock of bright red polish on its perfectly manicured toes, which only perverted the scene more as it clashed with the bluish pallor of the flesh. His eyes grew wide at the sight of flies and sand crabs greedily devouring the soft tissue. He choked back bile.
The spell was broken.
Sean stepped backward so fast he tripped over his own feet and landed on his butt. He scrambled up and raced toward the shore. He couldn’t get away fast enough. He reached the water’s edge before collapsing to his hands and knees. His insides lurched so hard, he thought he would spew his stomach lining. Dry heaves continued long after his stomach had emptied. In the end he collapsed on the sand, exhausted. A waved washed over him, but he hardly noticed.

AN ENTERTAINING THRILLER/DETECTIVE NOVEL. The Kindle Book Review
If you enjoy police thrillers where they are trying to track down a killer, a hard nose but caring detective, a female in grave danger, and the background into what makes a serial killer --- then Sandman will be a great choice of read.
A fast moving story, solid plot, defined characters, and overall an entertaining book.
If you enjoy this genre of books, then the Sandman should be on your bookshelf or kindle.

GOOD READ! By Edward C. Talik (Ketchikan, AK)
So this is the first book by Morgan Hannah MacDonald that I have read.
First, Sandman is a good book! If you are looking for something easy and fun to read and enjoy the serial killer/crime genre, then this book is for you. I downloaded it to my Kindle and read it in two sittings.
One review of this book stated that it was too graphic. I disagree. As a retired police officer from outside Washington D. C. (later the Chief of Police for the city of Ketchikan, Alaska), I have seen some pretty gruesome scenes over the last 24 years. I did not find the descriptions to be gratuitous in the least. Instead, the writing revealed a keen knowledge of homicide investigations and police work in general. MacDonald's vivid descriptions added to the story and in no way distracted from it.
The work itself is well written and nearly perfectly edited; a rarity in today's world. I look forward to the next book.
Keep writing Morgan MacDonald, you rock!
A THRILLER YOU CAN NOT PUT DOWN! Jordan
I purchased this novel from the kindle store (I am unfortunately not an Amazon prime member but the $2.99 was more than reasonable) and was instantly hooked. While being a pharmacy student heading into my 5th year of college, working, and going to the gym regularly I still managed to finish this book in 2 days. The character development and style of writing were truly enticing in such a way that I found myself staying up late to find out what happened next, simply unable to put the book down until I was finished. Page after page I never lost interest and thoroughly enjoyed the quick chapters of just a few pages, a small detail of which I am both very fond of and thankful for as a reader. I have been raving about this book to all of my friends and family and strongly encouraging everyone to give it a shot. I cannot wait for Morgan to write another book and I am sure it will be just as riveting with as many nail biting scenes as SANDMAN. My only wish is that this next novel comes out soon! Thanks for such a great read.
