Tim Vicary's books are simply outstanding .... There is something very wrong with the world of publishing... why is it that the name Tim Vicary is not yet seen along side the likes of John Grisham? I cannot recommend this book more highly.
Outstanding read and great value for money!
"Bold Counsel" by Tim Vicary is literally an 'edge of your seat' Legal Thriller. Sarah Newby's career appears to be on the rise, as she presents her first case in the Court of Criminal Appeal.
This book is fantastic, and a completely absorbing read. The author manages to develop and represent the main character Sarah Newby, in a brilliant manner by demonstrating and capturing her soaring career minded approach on the one hand, while revealing a vulnerable and emotionally needy character on the other hand.
We earn nothing about Sarah Newby is simple or straight forward. She is a complicated character who has battled against the odds in every sense, to achieve all she has done in life. Just when she appears to be on the brink of personal and career happiness, her husband devastates her by announcing his departure for a new love interest.
Heartbroken, full of reflection, and trying to steer a new course in life for herself. Sarah finds herself a new lover, property developer Michael Parker and life seems blissful and full of promise for the future until a body is discovered in one of Michael's cottages. Former friend and admirer DCI Terry Bateson, investigates the case along with his new ultra ambitious DSI Jane Carter, Michael Parker Sarah's new love interest is under suspicion, what did he do and when did he do it?
How many signs should the normally sharp minded Sarah Newby ignore before she places herself in a position of danger? Do Sarah's actions affect her career? Should she listen to her heart and bodily desires, ignoring all other sound judgement? Will her inner urges destroy her career or leave another path of destruction behind her? The character and plot develop brilliantly, drawing you in with each page, if you enjoy a fast riveting and intense story, this is it.
Vicary paints a convincingly imperfect world of flawed heroes, lawyers, police and ordinary townsfolk, that seduces us into rooting for this barrister, while trying to unlock the mystery behind the story. It's a fast-paced, gripping and unpredictable ride of a book.
Vicary is an exceptionally skilled writer who plots well, develops believable and yet, amazing characters all the while leaving something extra in reserve, right up until the end. Every character is written very convincingly and with strong and credible dialogue representative of the sometimes very chilling and scary content in the story. It is a thriller where the tension and the stakes are constantly going up, the more the reader learns.
Vicary has delivered an exceptional book in writing "Bold Counsel," leaving no detail untouched or part of the plot unexplored, an outstanding read and great value for money. "Bold Counsel easily sets the stage for many more legal thrillers in this series, and I have no doubt, Vicary will soon be recognised, as a serious rival to the works of Scott Turow and Michael Connelly. Another excellent book by Tim Vicary
In the beginning we find Sarah Newby facing her first case in the court of criminal appeal where her client, Jason Barnes, has spent 18 years in gaol for the murder of a woman whose body had never been found. Sarah wins the appeal and her client is set free, but he soon goes on the run when the body is found by a fox shortly after his release - was he guilty afterall?
Sarah's marriage fails but she soon meets a handsome property developer, Michael Parker, who she begins a relationship with, leaving poor Detective Inspector Terry Bateson out in the cold once again. Michael shows an interest in the case of Jason Barnes - could he be hiding something and if so, what exactly, and what will this mean for Sarah?
Shortly aterwards, a woman is found dead in one of Micheal's properties - was it suicide or did someone murder her? If it was murder, who was responsible - is it related to a series of recent stalkings, is Michael somehow involved as a possibly jealous Terry believes or ....?
The story is full of twists and turns as Sarah and Terry try to work out exactly whodunnit and why. I won't spoil it for you - try it for yourself.
This third outing is every bit as good as the previous two. Please, Mr Vicary, tell me there are some more coming soon.
