His escape into the forests of the Arkansas Ozarks while being tracked by the dictators killers is filled with thrills and adventure. The protagonist, Frank Fallon survives in the woods using techniques of the original Riflemen in Revolutionary times. His survival is helped by the friendship and aid of a mysterious mountain lion. In the end he finds new love and, with the aid of other patriotic Americans he brings the country back to a constitutional form of government.

They still hadn’t seen him. Kneeling, Frank took aim on the breech of the gun, just above the big pod of caseless ammunition and fired. The effect of the hit of his soft lead ball on the gun was not unlike the opening display of Chinese fireworks.
Frank quickly turned away from the scene and put the big boulder between himself and the men in the clearing. And whatever was happening with that gun.
He heard the ammo popping, many rapid pops, hundreds and hundreds of pops. He also heard screaming and commotion. The screaming was tortuous and loud. After less than a minute the popping began slowing down. Sounds like microwave popcorn when it is almost finished. Lots of pops, then not many, then none. And the screaming had stopped too.
Fallon waited a couple more minutes then got up. Before venturing out he reloaded his rifle, primed and cocked it. They don’t have a gun anymore and I’ve got one good shot and my knife and tomahawk. If they are going to get me, I’m going to get some of them in the process.
The scene he saw as he rounded the corner of the big rock and looked into the clearing temporarily overwhelmed Frank’s senses. He was looking into a world of red. And red was still raining down from leaves and branches of the trees overhead. The ground was red, the trees were red. The bodies were red. There was no life in the clearing. Everything was dead and red.
