So many of you LOVE the Black Jaguar Squadron stories! Well, hang on because here is book 2 that became available March, 2002! The first book of the series, WOMAN OF INNOCENCE (Silhouette Special Edition), January, 2002, kicked off this new 4-book series!
Part Apache and Part Lakota Sioux, Akiva is an aggressive Apache helicopter pilot for the Black Jaguar Squadron. She's already bagged a Russian Kamov assault gunship to her credit as she fights with her sister pilots to halt drug shipments out of Peru into neighboring countries. A warrioress by blood and heritage, Akiva's great-great grandmother, Na-U-Kuzzi, was one of Geronimo's most powerful and important warriors for his band. The blood of the warrior women in Akiva's family sings strongly in her veins this generation.
Instead of having a horse, a spear and her intelligence to outwit her enemies as the Apache did in the old days, she now flies the Apache Longbow helicopter for the US Army in the black ops fighting drug trade in South America, instead. She takes no prisoners. She doesn't suffer fools, either. Among her sister pilots, Akiva is known and respected as the top warrior pilot at the base.
Akiva's life has been hardscrabble and brutal. She has suffered from childhood onward, at the hands of white men. When Major Maya Stevenson orders her to work with CWO Joe Calhoun, the instructor pilot from the USA, Akiva balks and refuses. She works with women only, because they have not tried to destroy her spirit and tear out her heart. She fears men and doesn't trust them at all. Maya insists that Akiva become the commanding officer of a new black ops base set in Southern Mexico, to begin to thwart Gulf air flights of drugs from reaching US soil. And to do this, Joe is going to not only be her co-pilot in the Apache going after the bad guys, but also, her executive officer at this new, secret base!
Can Akiva deal with a white man that she hates so much and still do her duty? Her love of flying, of risking her life on a daily basis, is a thrilling high for her. Respecting Maya Stevenson, her commanding officer, she can't say no to her request. But HOW is she going to deal with all her hard feelings toward men?
I guarantee you, this book has more twists and turns in it....and you will be surprised, and I hope, pleased, by the end of it. Do let me know!
