Things to include on the Landing Page:
The first order of business here is that effective headline! You want to create a headline that is catchy, easy to remember and has flash to it. People remember short headlines or word phrases.
Next, you want to include your company logo or your name if that’s what you wish to use.
Follow this up with a quick explanation of what it is you have to offer them. They say a “picture is worth a thousand words,” so you should always include one or two images at least to give the visitors a detailed idea of just what the product is you’re selling.
Next up, you want to include a sign-up form. Basically, you want their email address so keep the sign-up box simple. Wanting too much information might scare them away. Keep it simple!
You may include a “click to buy” the product button if you’re selling something cheaper.
Things not to include on the Landing Page:
Only focus on what you’re offering the potential customers on the landing page.
Don’t include images that have no relation on the product you’re selling because that will only distract from the product and annoy the customers.
Don’t include any links to other parts of your website! You want the landing page to only focus on what it is you’re selling.
Any text that is hard to read.
Any boxes other than a subscribe sign-up box or a click to buy button.
Don’t include anything that doesn’t generally add to what you’re trying to sell.
The length of your landing page is all too critical. For something free, the shorter the better!
If you were selling something that is expensive, then the longer copy would give the potential customers more details about the product or service. You never would want to use a short copy of the details of your product if it couldn’t be described in such a format.
Remember the color options that were discussed in the last chapter? You should experiment with color on your landing page to get the best results. Color choice can play a huge role in whether a visitor or customer likes what they see in your page layout.
When you write your description on your product or service, only include the most useful and detailed information. People have short attention spans and it is up to you to write the descriptive form in such a way as to keep their attention focused on “Your interesting product or service!”
