What life is about
I had a sort of a flashback today, for no reason at all. When my son Robert was 7, the kids
organized a soccer game, including several visitors. Somehow, Rob ended up as the goalie.
A big, tough looking teenager, twice Rob's size and twice his age, captured the ball and was
racing down the field at a great rate. He pulled his foot back to kick a certain goal -- and saw
the little blond boy standing in the way, obviously terrified.
He kicked the ball to the side, deliberately missing.
I never found out his name, never met him again. But if all of us were like this teenager, our world would be a good place to live in. Already at that young age, he had learned the Lesson that scoring a goal, winning a game, is far less important than compassion and kindness.
