James put on his running shoes, taking a few deep breaths before going down to the floor. Six push-ups: he fell down to himself and waited a moment before getting up. The kitchen was clean, but for a few dishes in the sink. He turned on the lights and made himself a vitamin shake. Two gulps: he drank it off and went outside.
Dry air, empty wind, he stretched his legs and lunged from side to side, going weak at his knees and grabbing at his back. “This isn't fair,” he said. James ran in place for a few steps and jogged at a walk to the mailbox and looked down either side of his street. The houses were matching, the yards were cut clean; their were no leaves on the ground. The sky, in the early morning awoke from the twilight with gleams and glows of yellow and orange. James did not look at the sky.
