The pit in my stomach couldn’t get any bigger. I focused on making my way home, trying to forget about the titillating one-night stand I’d had. The lingering thoughts of Kaito’s calloused fingers enveloping me, luring me into his bedroom, still made me hot. How could I forget his touch had made me climax twice? I couldn’t and that was the problem.
I swallowed, realizing I would have to face Ethan, my boyfriend, and tell him what I’d done. Telling him I’d cheated on him, because I needed to be loved; something he wasn’t able to provide me with for the past couple of months.
Kaito had asked me to stay with him, to be his girl. I couldn’t believe what he was saying; he only knew me for two days. We only slept together. As if that wasn’t a big deal though, just ‘sleeping with someone’; what a trivial thing to say.
But still, he wanted me to stay and I couldn’t. I wouldn’t allow myself. I had to confront Ethan and confess to him what I had done.
The steps that led to the building I lived in felt harder to take than ever before. I slumped to the front door, my fingers trembling, as I took the keys out of my pocket and turned them in the lock.
When I opened the door, Ethan stood in the hallway, his blond spiky hair all gelled up, on his face a tiny, hopeful smile. My heart sank into my feet.
“You’re home,” he said staring at me with his bright blue eyes, and he embraced me in a hug. I froze in place, not knowing what to do with this sudden burst of friendliness that had been absent for so long. Why now?
“Ethan I …” I began, the words coming out slowly.
“Chloe, don’t. I’m sorry. You don’t need to apologize, I was the jerk here.”
“Wait,” I stammered, but he placed a finger on my mouth.
“I got a job offer, Chloe! They called me, last night. My boy from football put in a good word for me and thanks to him, I can start tomorrow!” Ethan picked me up and twirled me around, like I weighed as much as a feather. “Oh, I was crazy to be so mad. You didn’t deserve that. I’ll make it up to you,” he said.
“Please, Ethan, I need—”
“Just shut up, will you? I’m trying give you an apology here.” He smiled from ear to ear. “I’m so glad I got out of that stinking hole and landed a much better job. I haven’t felt this alive since … forever!”
I sighed. What was I supposed to do? Trample on his happiness with my explanation of why I was away?
He put me down on the floor again. “I hope Patricia was able to cheer you up a bit,” Ethan said.
I swallowed away the lump in my throat. “Uh … Yeah, definitely.” That’s right, Patricia told Ethan I was staying at her place last night, because of the fight we had. I only just remembered.
His eyes shifted toward my stained skirt. My cheeks felt hotter by the second, as I tried to rub off the blemish; remnants of Kaito’s love-making.
“You look hot, Chloe!” he said. It had been a long time since Ethan had called me hot. The words sounded strange, coming from his mouth.
His face came closer and then his mouth was on mine, massaging my lips, warming me up. His kiss was tantalizing and scorching, burning up my temperature to the core. I’d dreamed so long about his kisses that I’d forgotten what they felt like.
All of the sudden he jerked his lips away and picked me up again. I squealed from the sudden movement, realizing he didn’t even mention the stain.
“What are you doing?” I asked, as he slapped me over his shoulder and took me to the bedroom.
“Doing what I should’ve been doing all along. Love you,” he said, as he put me down with a smirk on his face.
“What? Now?” I asked, watching him. He fished inside a drawer which hadn’t been opened in ages and grabbed two fluffy cuffs. No, this can’t be real.
“Yes. I should’ve done this a long time ago.”
I wanted to make an escape through the door, but he stood in the opening, slamming it shut before I could come close. I snorted and folded my arms. “Ethan …”
“No, listen to me.” He raised his hands. “I know how you feel. You wanted me to love you and I didn’t and I’m sorry, so let me make it up to you, okay?” He moved closer. I flinched, but he didn’t give up. I turned around to face the bed, he grabbed my hands. His sturdy grip tightening as I fought for freedom. I knew he wasn’t going to hurt me, but I didn’t want him to love me. I needed to tell him something, but he didn’t give me the chance.
Then I felt his breath in the back of my neck. Small pecks were placed on my skin, his gruff, unshaven beard prickling me. He trailed his way toward my earlobe and sucked on it, before kissing the side of my neck. I was a sucker for kisses and he knew where to go.
“I never understood why we stopped loving each other,” he whispered, the vibrating air in my ear creating goose bumps all over my body.
“Oh Ethan …” I mumbled. This was all I ever wanted. Only until Kaito came along and swept me off my feet. What should I do?
Ethan turned me around in his arms, still holding onto my wrists, as he pressed his lips upon me. His kisses were harsh and aggressive, full of lust, unlike Kaito’s, who’d given me feathery, gentle kisses.
Ethan thrust his tongue inside me, invading my mouth with wild licks, getting faster by the second. He grunted and pulled me toward the clothing rack. I didn’t know what he was going to do, but I didn’t want him to stop. I’d missed this Ethan for so long, it was hard to say no. Even though I knew I had to eventually tell him what I’d done. I just couldn’t get the words out of my mouth.
