Donovan and Cathey looked at the soil closely, and they both began to laugh. Cathey clapped her hands happily. There were little green sprigs everywhere. Too many to count. 'I have lots and lots of Daisies. I have lots and lots of Daisies.' Jamie sang and danced beside her flower bed. The Daisies popped up and bloomed one after another until the ground alongside the wall was covered in them, painting it with their smiles and beauty. "It is said that a mark of a good writer is if he/she can get their intended message across to whoever is reading their work in 10 minutes (reading time) and if that is true then what must be said of a writer who can get a POWERFUL message that will stay in your heart and is written in an entertaining manner with much food for thought in just 5 minutes (reading time) – I’d call that writer BRILLIANT.
This short read is written in a way where the character Jamie comes across so well you actually feel the child’s energy and enthusiasm I was in my mind bouncing along with her and her watering can … and when her heart broke it took me back to how I remembered it was when my own children were little and had aching hearts. I totally related to her mom and dad consoling her.
…. And yet the under lying message in here is so powerful we are left marvelling at the miracle of God’s creation as that daisy pushes out through the soil and we are faced with the unavoidable truth that we have to “die to live abundantly”
