Sure, opposites attract, but set a flamboyant female up against a man intent on an uncomplicated life and watch sparks fly.
Opposites attract, it is a well-known fact. At times this leads to insurmountable conflict, when at other times, sit back and watch the fireworks.
Steve Tanakis considers himself cool and calmly confident. Head of a fashion business, he needs to be in control of his life and his business decisions. He decides it is time to find a suitable mother for his son. Through with the pain that comes along with passion, he now considers what he wants is an unemotional wife, one who will fit well into his way of life.
Georgie McNamara, assistant designer in his fashion house, is flamboyant, vivacious, and gregarious, the antitheses to his idea of the perfect choice. The tiny whirlwind turns Steve's organized lifestyle upside down, somehow worming her way into his, and his son’s life, foiling all his plans to find that uncomplicated wife. Along the way Steve comes to realize there is a lot more to this bundle of feminine trouble than he first thought. Is she more trouble than he can handle?
Excerpt
Georgie slipped off her boots, tossing them under the hall table, then wandered into the kitchen, carefully skirting the squashed cake that caused Grace’s fall. She put the electric jug on and cleared the mess off the tiles with paper towels. After making a cup of hot chocolate she drifted about aimlessly.
One closed door invited her curiosity. Cautiously she opened it and peered into what must be Steve’s study. A director’s desk held a computer, a printer, and a couple of other office bits and pieces, all neatly lined up.
Two of the walls were lined with books. Sipping her drink Georgie perused the shelves. She grunted. Her boss’s tastes in reading were far removed from her own. Her usual reading was historical romances. Georgie would have been well suited in another time where the women paraded around in outrageous and colourful costumes. Not that she would have gone much on wearing corsets and bustles.
“Oh Steve,” she muttered, running a finger over his collection of thrillers interspersed with tomes about famous men who had tenaciously climbed to the top of their professions.
She repeated his name, simply because she loved to say it. Lowering herself onto the chair behind the desk she placed her empty cup on the polished desk, and lovingly ran her palms over the padded armrests. She sank back, resting her cheek on the soft leather. Sighing, she swiveled from side to side. Could she smell his very masculine after-shave?
She picked up his silver pen and smiled dreamily. His capable fingers had held it, and he must spend many hours in this chair. She imagined what it would be like to be married to him, spending every night in his arms, coming home to this beautiful house, sharing his life. Pictured herself coming into this room to scold him for working late. She would slip onto his lap and seduce him, entice him up to that bedroom, where he would satisfy her every fantasy on that immense bed...
With an effort she tore her thoughts away from that image. Not for the first time she thought his ex-wife mad. Georgie would have lived almost anywhere to be near him. Even Isabel, who shared most of her thoughts and fears, had no inkling that Georgie had the hots for her serious boss.
The pen dropped to her lap as she nodded off, her bare feet tucked beneath her.
