Christian author Ada Brownell penned "Swallowed by Life" after the death of her daughter Carolyn. It was then that Brownell embarked on a quest to discover what really happens to the physical body after the last breath.

Brownell includes many timely Scripture verses throughout the book, as well as, study questions at the end of each chapter. She gives a realistic glimpse into the life of one who has lost a loved one, and that is perhaps one of my favorite things about this book - the authenticity.

Brownell uses her past expertise as a journalist to skillfully write a book that is not only insightful, but also interesting. As one who has led many Bible studies and has also been a participant on numerous occasions, I am particular in choosing which studies I read and recommend. Brownell offers a book that will offer hope to those not only struggling with grief themselves, but also those who work with the grief stricken. It is not a sad and dismal book, however. It is a book of encouragement and hope - the hope we have in Christ Jesus. I highly recommend it.

An excellent group study to prompt valuable discussion

I was surprised by the high-quality, intriguing group study I found in Swallowed by LIFE! It made me want to start a study group, and that isn't common as I'm picky about books and topics. It's hard to find books with good discussion questions like this. I can predict some GREAT dialogues happening because of the thought-provoking nature of the chapters and the questions. It would be a study for people who want to be real and honest in their spiritual walks. What better way to get very authentic than to talk about getting through death and how we face what lies ahead? I enjoyed the book personally and was touched by the author's stories and her gentle wisdom. I also really appreciated the way she used science to reveal God's majestic design. All in all, a very enjoyable and uplifting read that is comforting and stabilizing in a deep way for people of faith.

Excellent Book!
I didn't think I could ever read anything more gripping from Ada Brownell than `Swallowed by Life' . In this tract, her soul is laid bare for the reader. Each page is more intense than the last. You will find not a wasted paragraph, nor sentence, nor word. Feel Brownell pain, explore her literary mind, rejoice in her new beginning and ponder the paradox of life.

In my mind, it's the best work she has ever penned and will move you from the first sentence to last. You'll truly be better for having taken the time to read it.

Each chapter has a question and answer section for discussion or contemplation. The book is a good Bible study guide not only for grief support groups and those who have a serious chronic or terminal diagnosis, but also for those curious about the future, those who fear death, those who need their faith strengthened, people who don't know Jesus, and individuals who give them counsel.
