A tropical island holiday turns into a living nightmare for Indi Falcone when she meets a handsome male with a bad attitude and sees someone who looks scarily like her. The gloss is rubbing even thinner when her flight home is cancelled and she is stuck with the aftermath of a prank that slid sideways and no one left to support her.
Indi Falcone's magical tropical island holiday is turning into a nightmare. She had a humiliating encounter by the resort pool with a handsome stranger with a bad attitude, who now seems set on making her life hell - and she's met someone who looks scarily like her.
A harmless prank in a moment of craziness has an opposite to desired effect and, desperate to leave but with her flight cancelled, Indi's nice normal uneventful life as a bookstore owner seems like a distant dream. Then a slip of the tongue means a promising friendship is probably a no-go after all.
To top it off it looks like Indi's falling for the most obnoxious man on the island. Can things get any worse?
Excerpt
It was 5 a.m. the next time the phone rang. Indi hadn't slept a wink and knew exactly what time it was - she had looked at the clock on the hour, every hour since midnight.
"Ginni...or Indi...," said a brittle-sounding voice when she finally picked up the phone, "- or whatever you've decided to call yourself today. I need you here by six."
Indi was so surprised she forgot to be annoyed.
"Pardon?" she said, thinking she hadn't heard right.
"The last frames are useless. We need more."
Recovering her senses - and her temper - she shouted into the receiver, "Yough!"
She was about to slam the phone down when he snarled back.
"Tough or not, in case you've forgotten, Ms Hunter, we have a contract. You might like to read paragraph 6, clause 2, which clearly states that you will finish the job to the satisfaction of the photographer. And in case you need reminding, that photographer is me."
"But I've got to be at the airport at ten," she wailed in shock and disbelief.
"I've cancelled your flight."
"What?"
Your flight is now on the 23rd."
"The 23rd?"
She almost choked. The 23rd was two days away. How dare he do this to her?
Sizzling with rage, she tightened her grip on the phone and hissed back.
"Now you listen to me, Brad Chalmers, there's no way I'm going to miss my plane - today. Do what you damn well like - I'm putting myself back on the flight list."
"See you at six," he said and hung up.+
