We went back to his car, and my mind was racing, trying to process everything that he had told me. I thought about what would happen if I were to shoot Dante in my own apartment complex. It was a dumb idea, and I had so many traces back to Jada that all eyes would be on me. Everyone at the Villa knew that we were an item, and my name would come up instantly to the police. I looked at Jimmy and wondered if there was something deeper that my friend of many years was setting me up on. But that didn’t make any sense. This was my brother; we had seen too much together and had too much history for me to consider it. Plus, Jada was hurt. The thought made it hard for me to think straight. What if Dante was on his way to take me out? As I sat in the car thinking, I held the gun in front of me and examined it. It was a pretty, silver Beretta. Jimmy had a thing for guns, and this was one of the few that he actually used—I would be surprised if it didn’t have a name.
