When Byron Masons’ 17-year-old nephew Philip calls him for help and subsequently disappears, Byron returns to the city of his birth, and is thrown back together with his estranged family. He and his old friend, firefighter Adam Sterling, are involved in a race against time to find him.

Newly appointed Detective Chief Inspector, Siobhan Fahey, is also looking for Philip as she works to uncover the truth about a shocking gang murder, and the brutal past of troubled teenager, Mugisa, whose very survival has depended on killing his own emotions and controlling the people around him.

The search for Philip is made all the more dangerous when the murder victim's uncle turns out to be terrifying gangster, Ritchie McLaughlin, who has unfinished business with Byron, and is bent on exacting revenge.
