When Alice Kingsley's granddaughter falls 'down the rabbit hole' and lands in the Mad Hatter's yard, will she try to go home, or will she fall for a man - and a world - she believed only existed in fairy tales?

It has been two years since Alice left Wonderland...

Two years since she slayed the Jabberwocky. Two years since she broke the Hatter's heart. Now, she has given up hoping that his Other Half even exists. Deternimed to live his final days without love, he numbly lives in the world that he created. But, when a strange girl lands in his front yard, one that the Queens are claiming to be the granddaughter of the girl that haunts his dreams at night, will he finally open up his heart to true love?

Excerpt

Breath heavy, I pulled myself upright in the bed I had been sleeping in moments earlier. Just as every night before, I relived the memory over and over, etching it into my mind. It wasn’t a normal dream, although to normal people it would probably be considered a reoccurring memory. For me, though, this was my reality. Visions of that blonde-haired girl filled my thoughts and dreams every time I closed my eyes. This time, it had been the day she left Wonderland.
The day she left me.
She had just slain the Jabberwocky, and the entire Realm was celebrating. It was sure to go on for days. She was no longer in the amour she had fought in, and the battleground was clear of all traces of the events that had unfolded earlier that day. She had been dancing with Tweedledum when I found her. He carelessly spun her around in wild circles, blind to the sickness it was causing her.
When the song finally finished, she politely thanked the twin for the dance before stumbling her way to a solid seat in order to regain her head. Her hair was loosely flying in the wind; her eyes glimmered playfully. Sitting on the ground beside her, I basked in her contagious happiness.
When she realized who was by her side, she smiled at me. Only now, looking back, do I realize it never reached her eyes. The youthful sparkle that had resided there moments before disappeared as she turned her attention to me.
Saying nothing, I reached into my pocket, pulling out a simple silver chain. The small top hat that hung from it spun this way and that in the cooling breeze. She gently took it from my hands.
“A forget-me-not, for when you forget.” I whispered.
“I’ll come back to Wonderland, one day. I promise.” She whispered back to me, leaning in to kiss my cheek.
Before her cool lips ever touched my flushed skin, a red knight came and asked her to dance. The sparks returned to her eyes as she agreed, letting him lead her to the field. And, just like that, she left me, and the necklace, in the overgrown grass.
I threw myself out of the bed. Two years. It had been two years since she promised she would come back. Two years of endless, agonizing, heart-wrenching pain; of sleepless, tear-filled nights. Two years worth of nightmares. Two years of insanity wasted on someone who had probably never thought twice about Wonderland. Never thought twice about me.
Two years.
Twenty-four months.
One hundred and four weeks.
Seven hundred thirty days.
Nineteen thousand, five hundred thirty hours….
“No!” I shouted at no one, crumpling into a tear-stained mess on the floor. I couldn’t even cry anymore. I had wasted all of my tears, one at a time, until I had nothing left inside of me but questions.
Why did she ever need to fall down the rabbit hole? Why did she have to make me fall in love with her? Why did she have to free me from my madness, only enough to feel the heartbreak she left me with?
I continued to throw questions at myself as I went through the motions of changing into something somewhat suitable for public eyes. But, of course, no one answered when I asked. Even the voices in my head left me to be alone, suffocating in my misery.
Barely stopping for my hat and stick, I numbly walked out the door, not bothering to close it behind me.
