When Alyssa was a child, she decided not to believe in demons. If you don't believe, then they can't be real, right? But the demons don't care what you believe.
Alyssa grabs her six-year-old daughter and escapes into the forest outside the compound. Her father's death haunts every step. He died trying to save her from the cult when she was a child. This time, failure is not an option.
Keeping a few steps ahead of the elders, Alyssa crosses paths with a truck driver named Gabe. Suddenly she dares to believe she might succeed. Yet Alyssa can't bring herself to warn Gabe of the demon horde that's fast on their heels.
Gabe's gentle kindness sends ripples of emotion throughout Alyssa's petite form. Emotions she's never felt before. But will he be strong enough to protect her from the approaching evil?
Excerpt
The shadows writhed and churned, darting between the white frame buildings of the rural compound. They beckoned to the young mother slipping slowly into the darkness. Alyssa grabbed her six-year old daughter, Samantha’s, hand and crept slowly past the tallest building known as the gathering hall. A low unearthly hum came from within. It slowly sucked all hope out of the air. It was a familiar sound. A sound that said the elders were deep into their worship.
An unearthly moan came from inside the gathering hall as Alyssa pulled Samantha toward the far end of the building. A chill ran through her that sank into her bones. A scream of desperation filled the air. Alyssa’s eyes filled with tears. She brushed them away. This was the only time they brought the dogs in from the perimeter. The only time they took them into the sanctuary. It would be an entire month before the dogs were pulled inside again. There was nothing she could do for the others. She had to push on.
The wind bit at their ears and tried to shove them back toward the compound. Ignoring it, they rushed across the open area between the living quarters and the tall, razor wire fence. They stopped at a tall tree near the fence. Alyssa used the tree for concealment as she removed a large clump of grass revealing a shallow hole under the fence. She used a forked stick to force the fence up. Alyssa helped Samantha slip underneath, and followed her. They crouched low and ran across the meadow. Rising as they reached a small line of young trees, Alyssa took hold of Samantha’s hand and ran as fast as her child could manage through the tall grass.
It wasn’t long before Samantha began to whimper. She pulled her mother’s hand wanting to stop. Alyssa forced herself to pause and point out a star as it shot across the sky. Samantha stood next to her mother trembling in the cold autumn air. Draping her arm across Samantha’s shoulders, Alyssa forced herself to smile despite the intense urge to run through the darkness. She gazed into Samantha’s big, blue eyes and said, “Isn’t it pretty? It looks like the star is chasing a fairy across the sky.”
Samantha’s eyes opened wide with wonder forgetting the cold, damp air that caused her threadbare dress to cling her bone thin form. “Could it be an angel?” She whispered.
Alyssa’s eyes grew dark with anger. She whispered back, “Angels aren’t real.”

Alaina Stanford, storyteller fo the Angels.
As a believer in Angels and Demons, I enjoyed this book very much. It brings the realm of the Spiritual to an Earthly level and gives the reader an inside look at the War being waged against Mankind by Satan and his Demons. I loved the fact that Micheal, Gabriel, and Raphael were given human form and different lifestyles to keep a constant eye on the Enemy and came together to save one young woman and her child.
There was a definite undertone of Christianity, but nothing shoved down your throat. There were believable examples of Cult influences, ie: Jim Jones, with the Compound and it's Absolute Rule over everyday life. There was Romance, a frightened young woman falling in love with her protector and a surprise ending with a happy twist.
I'm looking forward to the next installment of the Archangel Series. Alaina Stanford has gained a new fan.
Evil does not require of belief to exist.
When left by circumstances beyond her control our heroine must escape. Running into the night with her daughter is their only chance of survival. As the battle between good and evil happens before her will faith be reborn?
You can't hate a story with Gorgeous Archangels and winning battles against evil.
I was concerned at how someone could write about Archangels and not have it become messy, unbelievable nonsense. I was impressed and I loved this book. I was entranced by the character and the roles they played. It showed strength, fear, humility, perseverance and love. An honest love. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
