Sheriff Lange buckles his seatbelt. “Settle down, Earl. We've got him. A Tornado knocked out the river bridge, .just last week. He ain't gettin' away.”
Buck glances at the Sheriff and puffs on his cigar . It glows brightly. “Just sit back and enjoy the ride, Amos. I'm runnin' this show.”
The pickup and squad car race through a series of curves, as headlights illuminate the silhouette of a dilapidated, steel bridge. Jagged steel beams loom, several hundred yards ahead.
The Pickup comes around a curve and slides into a harvested corn field. It does several 360's in the muddy field.
The Squad car slides through the curve and races toward the bridge.
A series of lightning bolts illuminate a massive web, of tangled steel beams.
The Pickup is stuck in the muddy Corn field.
Old Man Wilcox shifts gears in the truck. The interior is brightened by a flash of lightning.
The Pickup's wheels spin in the mud. Smoke and mud, roil from the spinning tires.
Through the windshield of the Squad car, the jagged beams are getting closer.
Buck puffs nonchalantly on his cigar, as he gazes down the road.
Sheriff Lange panics. “What the fuck are you doing, Buck? Slow down.”
There’s no reaction from Buck. He pushes the pedal to the floor.
The bridge is almost upon them. The jagged beams, are a mere few hundred yards away.
Old man Wilcox gets out of his truck and rushes to the roadside. He watches, as the Squad car approaches the bridge.
“Nooooo... Buck--“ Sheriff Lange dives out the passenger door. He rolls to a stop, face down in the roadside ditch. Wide-eyed, he looks up.
Spencer has his hands braced against the bar. His eyes are clinched tight.
Amanda places her hand on his shoulder. She is understandably concerned.
Buck puffs deep on his cigar, lighting up his face.
Jagged steel beams smash through the windshield.
Spencer pushes away from the bar and jerks his head to one side. He and his stool start to topple, as...
The Squad car is skewered on the jagged beams. It bursts into flames.
Sparks fly and the sound of metal crashing is overwhelming. There’s a violent explosion, as the burning Squad car rips loose from the tangled steel beams. It hurtles toward the creek below.
Sheriff Lange is thrown back by the explosion. He shields his eyes.
Below, the Squad car burns, laying in the Creek below the bridge, as...
Spencer topples backwards on his stool, cracking his head into a table. He crashes to the floor. Mouth agape, he slowly opens his eyes. Dazed, he glances at the wall behind the bar.
Amanda kneels at his side.
Spencer stares at a Neon sign behind the bar. The blue and white beer sign pulsates brightly.
Old man Wilcox runs toward the bridge.
Sheriff Lange struggles to his feet, as…
Old man Wilcox approaches. He extends his hand to the Sheriff. Breathing heavy. “You okay, Amos? What the fuck just happen--“
A massive bolt of lightning strikes the Steel bridge beams, with a violent crack, followed by a dizzying hum.
The bridge explodes with sparks. The network of mangled Steel beams glows, with a pulsating bluish-white light.
Old Man Wilcox and the Sheriff gaze toward the glow. Their jaws grow slack, as...
From within the glowing, tangled beams, a wavering image of Lightning Devereaux forms, surrounded by the bluish, white light. He appears to be laughing heartily, as his eyes search the waters below.
Old man Wilcox and the Sheriff exchange glances and close their eyes. They open their eyes, as...
The glowing image is brilliant white. It slowly begins to fade into the darkness.
Old man Wilcox and Sheriff Lange look at each other. They are stunned.
