Ron Irwin left home at age 11. Just six years later he joined the Marine Corps and eventually found himself in Vietnam where he in part served literally as a flying target. Upon his return to civilian life he continued his education eventaully qualifying for the Illinois State Bar Exam which he passed on his first attempt. Later he moved to Southern California where he pursued a new career in radio and public relations.
On December 18th 2012 Ron was alone in his home when he suddenly stopped breathing. He had just enough presence to punch 9 1 1 into his cell phone as he dropped lifeless to the floor. After 26 days in the hospital he was released but was forced to deal with and ultimately defeat obesity, diabetes, congestive heart failure and cancer. On his path of recovery Ron lost over 140 pounds and discovered a beautiful new level of familial love.

Ron Irwin, born to the leader of “The Biggest Little Band in America” in 1945 left home 11 years later, but ended up in one of America’s most prestigious High Schools. Along the way Ron met John F. Kennedy, cruised on Senator Ed Muskie’s personal yacht and spent a summer vacation with International Super Star vocalist Jane Morgan.
Ron Irwin joined the United States Marine Corps in 1963 and then went to the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, partied with Oscar winner William Holden in Hong Kong, won second place in a singing contest in Hiroshima, Japan before joining the war in Vietnam where he was literally a flying target.
Despite his extremely poor academics in High School Ron went on after his military service to earn his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees, both with Honors. He then became a successful lawyer practicing law in Illinois before moving to southern California in 1983.
Unwilling to take the California Bar Exam Ron Irwin left the legal profession but soon found himself in a budding talk radio career. As a talk show host Ron met Mel Gibson, Barry Levinson, A. Martinez and numerous other celebrities. He also discovered the beautiful Nenita Perez whom he married in Hong Kong in 1984. Ron and Nenita recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.
Clearly Ron was an adventurer and frequent risk taker who somehow always managed to end up on his feet with a grin, until December 18th 2012. On that day Ron literally dropped dead in his home. He was home alone and by all odds should have remained dead for eternity. However, Ron did survive and has since worked his way back to a level of excellent health. On that trip to hell and back Ron learned many crucial life lessons and he shares them fully in this book, “Live, Die, Live again.” Coming from a rekindled spirit of love of life, family and humanity Ron hopes through this book to help others live longer, happier and more enriched lives.
