It all began when I awoke at the edge of a corn field south of Johnson Creek that one fall morning. I remember there was a chill in the air as I collected my thoughts trying to figure out how I ended up here, as well as what had happened to me as feel a sharp pain radiating from my left should looking down upon it I realized I had been bitten by what I had no idea, and yet here I stood. Realizing I was a long way from town I started walking in hopes of coming upon a road or even a country lane.
Catching a ride hopefully to town I continued walking till I finally did come to a black top road and as luck would have it a farmer was approaching in a pickup truck hanging my thumb out as he approached closer, he pulls up alongside window rolled down he says, “hop in son.” Thanking him I slide into the passenger seat. You from around these parts he asks? Yes, I live in Johnson Creek. Oh, a local boy huh? So, born and raised, here were you? Yes, sir sure was, my daddy was a logger and worked for the Johnson Creek Logging company till the accident occurred he said.
“Oh, what happened? He was crushed when a tree fell on him, he never seen it coming till it was too late. Wind caught it and it twisted it when it fell and landed directly on him killing him instantly they say. Oh, my heavens son my deepest condolences how awful. How old were you at the time he asks? I had just turned Nine years old he said, I was fishing with some of my friends when I got the news about dad. Damn what a shame son, so sorry for your loss, my name by the way is Ben, what's yours? If you don't mind me asking, he says. No not at all, my names Bo he says, Bobby actually but everyone calls me Bo and it just kind of stuck he says smiling.
It's a good name Ben says, well Bo it's a pleasure to meet you as he pulls up to Deb's diner.

I was getting ready to grab a bite to eat care to join me son? I'm buying it's on the house he says smiling looks as though you could use a good meal and a cup of Deb's great coffee as well. “Sounds really good Ben, I truly appreciate it seems I lost my bill fold as well today. “Well then let's eat,” Ben says as they exit the pickup and enter the diner taking a booth by the window. Deb hearing them comes in walks over with two glasses of water and some menu's laying them down she smiles and says, “Well Ben it's been awhile hon, how is Peg doing?”
Oh, sweetie she passed quite some time ago he says. Oh, Ben I'm so sorry I didn't know condolences to you and your family. Well she'd been battling off and on for some time it just finally wore her down I think to be honest Deb, she'd made her piece she was ready to go. She went back home to die so she could be closer to family. Well I certainly understand that Deb says. Just so sorry, so what will it be guys? Ben says Cheeseburger and ranch fries for me Deb and a piece of your Cherry cobbler too. Same for me Deb Bo says. If you'll excuse me, I need to clean up a bit do you have any peroxide or disinfectant cream I could use Deb he asks?
Looking puzzled she says, “Why honey did you cut yourself or something?” He looks up at her surprised and says, you mean you never noticed the big bite on my left shoulder there? Deb responds, honey when did this happen as I can tell you right now you do not have any bites on your shoulder that I can see she says left or right side either one she says. Ben looks over at him and says I didn't see any bites either son to be honest with you.
That doesn't make any sense he says, I could have sworn I woke up in that field with blood running down my back and chest from a bite I got from some kind of beast it was sore as hell. Deb says I'll bring your orders their ready now she says as she walks away. Bo says excuse Ben I'll be right back I need to use the rest room.

He stands and walks over entering the rest room he walks over the sink turning and looking in the mirror he was shocked to find no bite not even a sign that there had been one. Looking at his reflection in the mirror he says what the fuck is going on here? Turning he exits the rest room and takes his seat across from Ben. I tell you Bo Deb makes the best damn burgers in the county I swear and her Ranch fries are to die for as well. Deb over hearing him responds, “Well Thank You Ben bless your heart I appreciate your business.”
They set eating quietly as Bo wonders what the hell just happened to him did, he hit his and dream he got attacked? As they set eating and chatting, the sheriff walks in seeing them he smiles and walks over to them. Ben, Bo, how you boys doing this evening he asks? Doing fine sheriff, how's your night going? Not bad kind of slow but a nice evening he says. Well guess I better get going my order is up and waiting for me he says smiling, take it easy guys as he grabs his order turns and heads out the door. “Take care sheriff Deb says, be safe out there. Thank you, hon. I always am, he says as he walks to his squad car and soon pulls away. Finishing their meal Bo thanks Ben for the ride and the meal as he to heads out the door. Think I need to head back to my place and take a good warm shower and head over to Roy's Tavern have a few shots and a beer to clear my head Bo says.
Meanwhile across town at the Rangers station a call comes in, Ranger station go ahead please. Roger, he asks? Yeah, it's me, who is this he asks? It's Dave Wilson I'm camped out here by the boat dock, there's something you need to see he says. Alright I'll grab Crystal and we'll head your way be there in about 30min he says as he hangs up the phone. Turning to Crystal he says, we got a run to make something’s going on over at the boat dock Dave Wilson says he has something he wants to show us. Grabbing their coats, they head out to the Blazer and soon head for the boat docks.

Soon after they pull in to find Dave waving them over towards the dock exiting their vehicle, they walk over to where Dave stands pointing down at the water. Looking down they see what's left of a body floating next to the boat dock head missing. Not a pretty sight Dave says, sorry about that Crystal. What time did you discover the body Dave? Just now I was planning on doing a little Bass fishing before turning in tonight, but not much in the mood anymore now if you catch my drift he says. So, no sign of the head either I guess Roger asks?
“Oh yeah he says it's over there pointing towards a trash barrel. “Are you shitting me Crystal says, they tossed the head into a trash can, what kind of a sick bastard does that she asks?” Exactly what I thought when I went tossed my beer can away earlier and found her staring up at me, he said, scared the fuck out of me I'll tell you that he says. Crystal shivers oh my God I can imagine; glad it wasn't me that found her. Christ as it is now, I won't be able to sleep for a month just thinking about this. All the hairs are standing on my arm now as it is. Well Roger says I better let the sheriff know and call for an ambulance to come pick up the body. Do you recognize her Dave Roger asks?
Yeah, she's a druggy that hung around here a lot. I think her supplier would meet her here sometimes most likely would be my guest. She was a prostitute as well that's how she paid for her drugs. Damn shame she was a pretty girl. This is the third one in a week here. Crystal says, “what there have been more hookers killed here in Johnson Creek. Yeah Dave says but they're still under investigation by the next county over as they were dumped here but killed elsewhere At least that's what the scuttle butt is that is being told by a Mason County deputy I know. One was dumped at the ballpark under the bleachers supposedly, the other one out by the county line from what I heard in a drainage ditch. “Jesus Crystal says, their being treated like garbage!” Dave says well in all fairness Crystal that's what the town folk are saying concerning why their being targeted. She frowns and says, “I'll bite then why are they being targeted Dave?”

Truthfully, he says, sounds cold and callus I know but who's going to miss them he says? They're all run a way's homeless drug addicts, hookers. “So, in your eyes their scum I suppose Crystal says?” Now I never said that Crystal, I'm just repeating what I have heard around town he says. “Which is Crystal asks?” They got what they had coming, whoever is doing this is cleaning up Johnson Creek getting rid of the trash is what I've heard people saying.
“Well they are some sick discussing ass holes as far as I'm concerned, she says, these girls had families, these girls, had mothers and Fathers, brothers and sisters most likely. They just strayed from the path; it's damn sad Crystal says. People are pigs I swear, what if these girls were their daughters what then? Dave says honestly Crystal; do you think they would really care after hearing how they've been talking? No, you're probably right about Dave. Well let's call it in then Roger says, Thanks Dave sorry your Bass fishing tonight was spoiled.
Come on Crystal we'll go wait in the Blazer for the sheriff and ambulance to show up. As they walk over to their vehicle getting in, they set and wait back at the sheriff's office the phone rings, sheriff? Yeah go ahead he says, “What’s up Roger?” It's more like what's floating out here next to the boat dock, we have a decapitated body, the head is in the trash barrel, not a pretty sight I'm afraid, sheriff. “Fuck we'll be right there I'll call an ambulance have them meet us out there. We'll be here waiting. A Bass fisherman is who found her, you know Dave Wilson right sheriff?
Yeah, I know Dave been fishing with him a few times. Roger says he's the one that found her floating next to his Bass boat. How nice, not exactly the catch he was hoping for huh? Kind of what I thought to Roger says. Well we will see you in a few then as he shuts off his cell phone. The sheriff turns and says deputy we got a call we need to head over to the boat docks; they found a floater.

Exiting the office, they enter their squad car turning on the lights and siren they speed off towards the boat docks not far behind an ambulance follows along. Something just told me tonight was going to be a bitch, I was right the sheriff says. This makes three bodies now, they're not from around here, there homeless drug addicts and hookers, but whoever it is doing this to them is from right around here the sheriff says I just have a gut feeling. Why do you say that the deputy asks? Because they know the town, as well as know the most secluded areas where to dump the bodies without being noticed he says Makes sense the deputy says. Snatch them there dump them here throw off the cops.
Exactly the sheriff says; cover their tracks as they go. Do you think it's more than one doing the killing sheriff? No, I think it's some kind of cult behind it all. They must be damn strong on top of it as these heads were literally ripped from their torsos. A person with human strength would unable to do that. It has to be some kind of beast of some sort. We've learned that from the bodies recovered, the teeth and claw marks reveal some type of man beast. I've got a friend over at the Indian reservation Night Hawk; I just call him chief for short we'll meet up with him at the boat docks tonight the sheriff says. Soon they make the turn off leading back to the boat docks.
Pulling up next to Dave Wilson's pickup and Bass boat and trailer they exit the squad car and walk over to where Dave is standing pointing down at the decapitated body floating next to the dock. Standing holding a trash bag Roger hands it over to the deputy, looking inside the bag the deputy becomes sick and vomits violently. The sheriff says; let me guess it's her head? Yeah it is sheriff they dumped it in the trash barrel over there. “Jesus the deputy says, “What kind of sick ass person could do something like this?” A voice behind him says, it's not a person, a human doesn't possess that kind of brute strength, you're looking at the work of an evil Shaman or shape shifter the chief says Deputy I'd like you to meet a friend of mine Night Hawk, or chief for short the sheriff says smiling.

If anyone can help us figure these crimes out it will be him. He is one hell of a tracker to I might add. The ambulance soon pulls in, getting out the Paramedics walk over to the sheriff and the others. Having soon pulled the body out of the lake and laying it on the ground along with its head the chief bends down checking out the teeth marks and wounds. See these teeth sheriff? Canine teeth a huge dog or Wolf I would guess more Wolf judging from the teeth marks. You’re most certainly looking for a Black Magic Shaman.
I know of an area around here known to be sacred ground. There are caves that many believe to be evil and haunted; this is where you'll most likely find your shaman living where he can work his black magic in private with no interruptions. It will also be well protected by a wolf pack that the shaman feeds and trains to protect him and the others.
I can take you out to where it is, out by Skull rock. Oh, doesn't that sound just Peachy the deputy says, “You mentioned others how many of these damn things are we talking about?” We can go along with the chief and the sheriff if you'd rather stay behind deputy and take care of the body and writing up your report. I think I like that idea thanks Roger, Crystal, much appreciated he says. Roger says well technically the body was found on Park property so it's kind of makes it our responsibility as well to find the killer or killers. I'll see you good folks when you return the deputy says as he climbs into the ambulance with the Paramedics as they pull out and head back into town with the deceased.
Well the chief says we can meet back here tomorrow morning, I'll show you where those caves are at out by Skull rock. Sounds good let's head back in grab some shut eye the sheriff says. Meanwhile across town Bo having returned to his apartment after a late-night lunch unlocks his front door as he enters suddenly, he feels a blow to the back of his head as he collapses onto the floor. Coming around he hears voices; he lies still with eyes closed as he listens to the conversation in progress.
