They came from fractured families and were inseparable as children on the streets of Naples, but now they travel in different worlds. Sera is an itinerant musician, Angie is a fashion model. They meet in Madrid years after an unfortunate parting, and they attempt to fit into each other’s new worlds. What neither one counts on are the hurdles placed in their way.
Sera lives within his means. His friends are the bar owners who give him work, and the kindred spirits on the streets. Angie discovers his new lifestyle when she accompanies him to gigs in Spain. She also meets the people that are part of his life, and finds it easy to accept their relaxed culture.
When Angie's friends turn up at a gig in Barcelona, the serene atmosphere that she and Sera had created changes. They accept an offer of a lift to Angie's next assignment in Portofino. On their travel through France, Sera realises Angie now lives a glamorous lifestyle. Her friends are pretentious, and he feels out of place.
They come to realise their lifestyles may be too incompatible, and it becomes a battle to see whether Angie and Sera's relationship survives during their angst filled journey. They begin to wonder whether they can remain friends after their chance meeting. Is there any chance that they will rediscover their roots?
They find the answers on their travel through Spain, France and Italy; while they become caught up in the passion of romance, music and that thrown up by the exotic locations they visit.

He again strummed a few chords, while he lowered his head over the guitar. Then, he spoke to those within earshot. “This is a song I learned from a British busker I met in Madrid. The busker told me a British band called Ten Years After performed the song If you Should Love Me in the early 1970s. He said he sang it whenever he wanted to remind himself of the joys of love. Or more to the point, when he wanted to win a heart. I liked the song, so plied him with many bottles of wine until he taught me to play it well."
Sera appeared to revel in the memory. He smiled often and continued to strum the guitar while he spoke. Then, he launched into a more obscure song. He sang with feeling, caught up in the passion of the lyrics. His right foot tapped as it kept time with the beat that was not constant. The song took Angie on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Sera delivered the tune with a forceful zeal that reached into her soul. The many pauses and changes of tempo ensured she did not drift off, for the fear of missing something.
The song captivated her. She had not heard it before, but Sera’s fervent delivery invoked a heart wrenching intensity in her. It made her concentrate – to try to understand the words. The only words she made out were, ‘good loving’ and ‘feeling alright’, which gave her insight to the song’s intention. It was enough to understand that the words spoke of deep yearnings and unending commitment. Just like most love songs.
In the end, it didn’t matter. She had heard many love songs; but the sound and intensity of this one made a definite impression on her. Sera had brought it to life with a passion that oozed from his every pore. The palpitations she experienced told her something important was developing between them.
In the midst of the applause, someone out in the aisle cried out ‘yeh’, and another voice added another ‘wow’. To Angie this was a good way to sum up the performance. Breathtaking
