I managed to look to my right, and saw what appeared to be a throne with steps that led to the high seat. A woman was sitting on it while looking intently at me. Her clear eyes were pure tiny crystals that resembled pupils. I coped with what felt like bruised ribs and stood up with difficulty. I held my hand on my ribs as I walked to the steps. I was about to ascend when she shook her finger back and forth. The gesture was innocuous enough but she seemed fully content to protect herself if I disobeyed her directive. I look around and didn't find any bodyguards or consorts. I found that interesting. What I found even more significant was her appearance. She stood up and looked taller than me but that could be just an illusion since she was on higher ground. Her whole appearance was crystal. The only way I determined she was wearing a blouse was it was low cut and her clear bosoms protruded out. She smiled as I looked up from her chest to her face. Even her earrings were crystal, and the light that reflected off those, and her body, caused clear refracted light that shined everywhere. I could not see any color displayed with my surroundings except for me. I'm sure my red hair, red eyes, red trench coat, and my red skin stuck out to her.
She opened her mouth to speak but only music came out. It was a beautiful melody that sprang forth. She ended, and pointed to me as if to respond. I looked at her and shrugged my slim shoulders. She descended the stairs in her crystal high heels without incident. She came within a few inches from me, that's when I saw amusement in her eyes as I felt immeasurable power emanate from the hand I held.
She started to sing again, and I verbally told her to stop. She looked at me again and nodded. "Arcadis. We finally meet."
"And you are?"
She looked at me with dead eyes. "I am Queen Clarus, I rule this land."
I looked around the expanse of her terrain. "And where is this land? Where is Mors? What am I doing here?"
"So many questions. This land is composed of the temple we are in, and stretches out for several million traclands."
Wow, that was huge. One tracland was equivalent to ten thousand human miles. "The temple stretches that far or is the temple just part of the traclands?"
"Yes," she replied cryptically.
I opted to change the subject. "Where is Mors?"
Born of their seeds, kingdom will rise against kingdom, one will hold great mysteries, one will turn the tide and one will not be bound. War is fought, not only on the field but also within the mind. Nothing is what it seems take nothing for granted.
