Delia Armanetti, a member of the opera chorus, suffers a stroke. Her daughter-in-law wants to get rid of her, but Emma Winberry intervenes.
Emma Winberry and Nate Sandler are supernumeraries in the opera. One of the chorus members, Delia Armanetti, suffers a stroke on stage. She is rushed to the hospital where she is unable to speak. Emma Winberry, her friend, visits her often and meets Delia's new daughter-in-law, who is none too pleased. She married Mike, Delia's son, because he was a successful veterinarian and made a good living.
Emma is suspicious and watches the woman closely.Emma's sixth sense tells her that Delia is in danger from this woman.
The daughter-in-law has a secret agenda ehich puts Delia's and Emma's life in danger.

“Dr. Armanetti,” Marge, the receptionist called, peeking into the examining room.
“Yes?” He looked up from his work, a frown on his face.
“Sorry to bother you, but Animal Control is bringing in a severely injured dog. Said he was
hit by a car.”
“All right. Ask my assistant to come in here, now.”
A muscular woman with small cat-green eyes, set a little too close together, entered the room. “You wanted me, Doctor?” Her voice was brusque. She stood with one hand on her hip.
“Yes, Frances, we have an emergency coming in. I won’t know how serious until I examine the dog. Please take care of any animals waiting for injections. We may need to reschedule the others.”
She nodded and walked out of the room. He finished removing the sutures from a cat that had required minor surgery, and smiled at the anxious owner.
“She should be fine, Mrs. Owens. If you notice any swelling or redness along the suture line, bring her back in.”
“Thank you, Doctor. You have such a great way with animals.” She bundled the cat in her arms and left.
Mike walked out into the waiting room wiping his hands on a paper towel. “Marge,” he said to the receptionist, “please go next door and see if Dr. Espinosa might be able to help if this
injury is really serious.”
Marge hurried to the vet next door and returned just as two men carried in a large dog covered in blood. Only an occasional whimper indicated that he was alive.
“In here,” Mike directed them.
“Dr. Espinoza will be right over,” Marge said, averting her eyes from the injured animal.
The waiting clients’ expressions’ mirrored their concern. One woman began to cry.
After a cursory examination, Mike determined he would have to do major surgery in an effort to save the animal.
