A retired Chairman of the Joint Chiefs becomes President and declares martial law, using the power of the military to make radical changes. A popular female TV newsperson opposes him, and the two battle it out, with the future of America hanging in the balance.
A terrorist bomb kills the President and all nine Supreme Court justices at a photo session, and the VP (Charles Powers, a black, retired chairman of the joint Chiefs of Staff) becmoes President, declares martial law and takes over the country. He selects Barbara Westphall, an old adversary, as his VP, in order to have a balance to his power. The two immediately clash over issues that face America today, such as gun control, drugs, and abortion.
The story twists and turns as the two struggle with the issues and thefuture of America.
