Masterful!
Padraig O'Hannon has written a powerful, multi-layered murder mystery with a compelling plot, memorable characters, and an unexpected ending. The first person narrative style immediately drew me in to the story, and the energetic character dialogue was a delight to read. The author takes his time letting the story unfold through the eyes of Solicitor John Costa, while gradually building the tension and conflict.
Murder in County Tyrone is the work of a talented and mature author. If you love mysteries, suspense, or crime fiction, this book belongs on your reading list. I loved it.
Must Read!
I don't often read murder mysteries. They simply don't catch my attention. However, Murder in County Tryone has far exceeded my expectaions. Padraig O'Hannon has woven a tale and created characters that simply lept of the pages of this book. Getting people to fall for a dashing and debonair man or a sexy woman pictured on the cover is easy. Padraig O'Hannon makes you fall for his characters on a deeper level. The storyline is also something on a different level. It is really like nothing I've read before. It isn't like the tear jerkers I generally prefer, so you won't need the required box of tissues; you will however need a seatbelt! The twists and turns will keep you guessing until the very end. Don't think you have it figured out, things aren't always what they appear.
Excellent Murder Mystery!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I haven't read from the mystery genre in quite a while, and this was a good one to read. The story line started off fairly quickly and caught my interest. The main and secondary characters are well developed, and I specifically like the main character John Costa. He is brutally honest with and about himself. It was refreshing to read about a character that is so forthright with his self evaluation. Another primary character, Angela, had many facets to her personality that kept me guessing. Jillian MacDonald (Mack), a long-time friend of John's, is a great secondary character and was quite humorous and entertaining. I appreciated the friendship between John and Mack. Murder in County Tyrone is well written and easy to follow with plenty of plot twists and layers to the story. I was definitely surprised by the twist at the end of the book. Great book!
