Imaginative plot, great characters
As with all of Darrell Bain's SciFi, he develops the plot and characters at the same time with equally wonderful results. He doesn't dwell needlessly on explaining how the technology works, but does seem to have a good grasp of those areas where he steps in.
I hesitate to tell the plot of the novel in summary form. While I know that is often useful in deciding whether to purchase a book, it also spoils the fun in a good novel where the author unfolds the plot gradually as Bain does.
A warning that could equally apply to many of his other novels; the ending leaves you wanting more books in the series, but there are no more. Mr. Bain has so many stories that beg to be space opera series, but the first novel is the end. Even the most successful authors of sci-fi series generally build off one set of characters and one universe. Mr. Bain develops new characters, new technology, new drama, and a whole new universe for each book; and they are not carbon copies.

This was my third book from Darrell Bain, and I can say now I'm a fan of his work. I won't give this away, but it was an easy read. The science seemed believable. I was surprised at a couple of turns the story took, but not dissapointed at all. I guess he ended at a good place, although I found myself wondering what was in thier future. Maybe that leaves room for a sequel?(!)
