Third person narrator, Walter Blair narrates a true life story of how he was able to ``pull himself up by the bootstraps,'' while living in the ghetto during the 70's.
Walter experiences a ton of violence while growing up in the projects on the Southside. One day, he decides to work over the summer at a place called Green Acres Country Club in Northbrook, Il. There he falls in love with the Spanish languag, and this really motivates him to later become a bilingual teacher who has worked over 25 years for the Chicago Board of education.
