The book was great, fast paced from start to finish. I loved it! It is well written, and Bacon shines in the imaginative way he wove this story. Not only is it well written, it is highly thought provoking. I consider this book to be any child’s great fantasy read, and extremely hard to put down. That is the character of great books; they are woven so that one must read to the end, and Bacon has proved this. I see this book as one that children from age seven and up would enjoy and read more than once. I envision a wonderful children’s movie could be made from this fantastic book.

Gewgaws is an exceptional children's book. A set of friends have not seen each other in two years. Are they still the same boys they were; Or have the changed?
It parallels a great classic, Gulliver's Travels, without copying it. The boys are taken on an adventure and discover the bright and dark side of their selves and their friend. The most notable thing I enjoyed was how the boys sacrificed their gewgaws to save people. Giving of oneself can be rewarding, and in most of the instances, each time they gave they received something just as ordinary yet extraordinary. (You'd have to read it to see what I mean.) I began reading this to my oldest, and after she went to bed, I sat here and finished it. Gewgaws was hard to put down. The ending was a twist I hadn't expected. I could see children six years old and up enjoying the adventure found within these pages, and I can't wait for my girls to explore it's pages. If you haven't gotten it, what are you waiting for?
