The Founding of Barrows Crossing Jeremiah Barrows had a dream. The in-laws of Ezra Tucker wanted him out of town. They financed the venture which took Barrows and Tucker to Indiana where they are joined by Joshua Connors and his family, Pastor Samuels, and finally George Stephens the barber. Ezra's plan to keep his mistress nearby creates the town's first tragedy. The Farmers Ezekial Dawson, the genial horse trader/thief, and his handsome son inspire Jeremiah's dislike for dirt farmers.
