Excerpt
Inside the Conservatory, Janae and Khahari stared at all of the plants and the large bins.
"Would you like to get your hands dirty learning composting?" a volunteer asked.
Khahari ran his hands through the dirt. "Yes, let's do it!"
"Alright, who knows why we compost?" a volunteer asked.
"Doesn't it help the microbes make good soil for plants?" Janae replied.
"Yes, it does! Very good."
"Yeah, microbes made my strawberries really big," Khahari added.
"You guys are so smart. Go ahead and pick up a bin. We're going to make compost, and you'll get to take some home too!"

We meet up with Khahari at the beginning of the story. He got a plant he was to take care of over spring break.
He finds out that his cousin is coming to visit. Will she help Khahari learn about plants? Will Khahari change his mind about plants being boring to being fun?
This book is done well. Children can learn about plants and their importance, as well as how they help us and the planet. Children are introduced to various black scientists.
Though you get to learn about plants, although it is too plant-based and lacks much scientific evidence, there is a little bit of that.
