An exotic cozy mystery.
Set aboard a cruise ship touring the beautiful Galapagos Islands, this book is an easy read for fans of cozy mystery. Having enjoyed various Miss Marple and similar mysteries, I was curious to give this author a try.
Similar to Marple, the main character, Pauline Riddell, is female and English. So fans of the former will find themselves in familiar territory. The hero is a consulting detective (shades of Sherlock Holmes here), with a reputation for crime solving, which comes in handy when a body is found onboard ship in suspicious circumstances.
So if you enjoy a relaxing cozy mystery, written at a gentle pace, this book is well worth a look.
Delightful StoryTelling
I'm hooked on this series. PC James has a winning combination with Miss Riddell's traveling detective series. During a time when we all want to travel but can't, at least we can curl up with a fabulous book and solve the murder mystery together with Pauline. In this case, we get involved on a trip to the amazing galapogos islands with her sister Freda as a challenging side-kick. Unfortunate events follow and Pauline has her hands full. Travel + murder mystery = an easy read.

I loved this second installation of the Miss Riddell cozy mysteries series, it was better than the first in my opinion. It provides excellent escapist reading, (which is why I enjoy cozy mysteries) and makes for a great book to read on a Sunday afternoon. The details of the journey on the Galapagos cruise were always fascinating, particularly when mixed in with the puzzle Pauline was trying to solve. And the subtle details of the historical setting provided a great background. I thoroughly recommend the book, and am already looking forward to the next.
