This story could happen every day, any day, somewhere, to anyone at any time. A story to be told about a man who stumbled through his existence believing he had nothing to contribute, yet he, by his life, gave meaning and spritual direction for many years after his death.
A memoir about addition and the damage that it does to the addicted, the family, the loved ones and all the broken pieces of his world that he leaves behind.
Excerpt
Tonight was difficult. I don't know if Dion felt he was going to die, but he seemed to have a lot on his mind. I asked him to please talk to me. He said he had tried telling me certain things but I refused to listen. I said, "Please, try again"
He said that for all of my talk of love and spiritual values, I held onto things that meant nothing and put a price on priceless things. This was a comment regarding my constant preoccupation with garage sale items which I thought had value versus the human spirit which he said I felt was dispensable

Honest Portrayal
This read is not for the faint of heart but is near textbook for anyone caught up in the addiction-codependent-enabling relationship. Although this tells a great love story as well, it reveals in gory detail the impossibility of maintaining an honest relationship when there is nothing healthy upon which to build the relationship. You will find yourself rooting for him.

Then I realized that is exactly what alcoholics do. Of course, if you were reading someone's diary, this would be exactly how it would appear.
Addiction is Powerful
Was given this book and enjoyed every minute of it. It told a powerful story and gave me a new perspective on the way addiction affects others. Would recommend everyone read this!

This book is an autobiographical account of the lessons I learned about life and how I was able to apply them to inspire, motivate and empower others in my own work as a firefighter, as well in my daily life as a husband, a father and a man. When I w
