This book of poems was very intriguing. It made me stop and think---and, sometimes, stop and laugh with it's true to life realism. The author is an artist with words, but also with a pencil. The sketches doodled around the poems and short stories are breathtaking and make this an excellent choice as a gift for a friend. I very much enjoyed it.

The author catches a beautiful atmosphere with these poems: an air of simplicity mixed with just a hint of sarcastic cynicism–but there's nothing bitter or angry in them, more of a withdrawal from the noise of the world, as if the author and the reader are watching the craziness of the world from comfortable, soundproof sidelines, not caring a jot what the world thinks of us, and sharing small thoughts and big thoughts about friendship and restaurants and trust and ego and football.

This book is a lovely small piece of calm for a life that is hectic–too hectic to read a novel: try these fresh, straightforward, unsentimental poems. And if you don't think he has a sense of humour–that's not true, he just doesn't have yours!
