18 year old gay college student, and private investigator in training, Killian Kendall is back, and busy as ever. He's going through relationship growing pains with his boyfriend Micah, trying to help a friend whose son is suddenly secretive and estranged from everyone else he knows, and excited about working his first actual case, trying to find some leads in the murder of a DC gay escort who was a friend of Micah's. In between, Killian is still dealing with his psychic "gifts," which occasionally manifest themselves at inopportune times, and makes his guardian and his life partner want his help in dealing with a ghost disturbing guests at their new bed-and-breakfast.
This is the fourth of the author's Killian Kendall mysteries, and - having read earlier installments - I believe this is the best yet. He unfolds this mystery as one would an intricate tapestry, skipping around to cover the latest developments and theories, all sandwiched in between Killian's otherwise normal life as a college student. The characters are realistic and believable, and the riveting plot will keep you reading (No joke, I was late to an appointment, because I could not put it down!) Outstanding effort, and a solid five stars out of five.

Double-Plotted Mystery!
Killian Kendall is now a freshman at Pemberton University in Maryland and is in a developing relationship with Micah Gerber. He also still works for Novak Private Investigators. When Shane Novak hands Killian his first real case, that of a cheating husband, Killian heads to Washington DC, and Micah, knowing the DC area, reluctantly agrees to go with Killian to guide him around.
Once Killian has concluded his investigation of the cheating husband, he and Micah find they have some free time, so Micah takes Killian out to a place he used to frequent. And some odd things occur when they run into some of Micah’s old acquaintances. When Micah finds his ex, Paul Flynn, has been killed during a robbery, he hires Killian to investigate. But along with it comes some questions when Killian realizes what Micah had done in his past profession. As Killian gets more involved in Paul’s murder investigation, he finds himself face-to-face with some dangerous individuals. He also finds himself rescuing not only a friend but a troubled young man.
Once again, I really liked the double-plotted mystery in The Truth of Yesterday> and how they connected. In Killian Kendall, Josh Aterovis has created a character who at times seems he can handle anything, but there are flaws too. He is eighteen, going on nineteen, and sometimes his hormones get the better of him, although he seems to have strong feelings for Micah. Killian has to decide what’s important in his relationship with Micah, and the choices aren’t easy. To really get a handle on this character and his series, I highly suggest reading the books in order. The cast of characters is outstanding, they play their parts well, and they are always around for Killian—through thick and thin.
A Must-Read Mystery
This fourth book in the Killian Kendall mystery series continues the adventures of gay, teen, sleuth Killian Kendall as he juggles college courses, his personal and romantic lives, and his work as a private investigator trainee. Encountering his first and second real cases basically on his own, with guidance from his trainer, Killian enters the world of male escorts, hidden lives, and political peccadilloes.

Killian is not only a private investigator in training, but also a medium who communicates with ghosts, whether he wants to or not. He solves mysteries of the past and present, and progresses much further along in his own self-discovery and relationship with his boyfriend, Micah.
Filled with angst, mystery, romance, and supernatural elements, The Truth of Yesterday will entice and entertain fans of several different genres. Suitable for those who are gay, straight, or questioning, this book will help all readers understand the nuances and issues of the LGBTQ+ world of both school and work, while also providing a riveting murder mystery that entangles with other events: love gone astray and the world of male escorts. The discovery of hidden lives of loved ones will hit home with anyone in a partnership. Additionally, fans of police or investigator stories will also enjoy this novel.
