Gr 1-3-Mollel's storytelling skills are evident in this original tale of a clever rabbit that, with the help of some friends, manages to outwit a bully. When Leopard decides to have Juhudi for dinner, the quick-witted rabbit twice talks him into waitinn until after the next planting season when she will be much fatter. Singing and dancing her way to Leopard's grove "to dinner, for dinner," the little rabbit passes her enthusiasm on to a group of hippos when she teaches them her song and dance. Together with her friend Fuko the mole, they teach the vain leopard a lesson he will not soon forget. Juhudi's catchy song in the style of an African chant invites audience participation in this already lively story. Music and pronunciation guides are appended, along with an author's note regarding the underdog/trickster of traditional folk literature. Saint James's full-page and double page primitive-style paintings done in bright, primary colors alternate occasionally with a white box of text bordered by vegetables or leaves.
