As I sit here writing the chapters that will begin where Living My Dream: An Artistic Approach to Marketing left off, I feel HUMBLED, BLESSED and JAZZED that my 50th anniversary (1969-2019) is so near. Yet another AMAZING gift from The Creator, and I’m THANK-FULL.
I wish I could remember the exact month and day that I received my first painting commission. I would treat it as my second birthday and celebrate it each and every year. But I do remember that the temperature was mild, and the sun was shining brightly. So it must have been Spring in New York City, and I was twenty.
My hope is that these added chapters will not only bring you up to date, but that they will serve to further enlighten, encourage, stimulate and infuse the creative energies in us all.

CHAPTER NINETY-TWO
The NAACP Image Award Nomination
The NAACP Image Award is an annual awards ceremony presented by the American National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to honor outstanding people of color in film, television, music, and literature since 1967.
I completed writing Living My Dream: An Artistic Approach to Marketing during my second Artist-in-Residency at Saint Augustine’s College in August of 2011. Then on a whim I decided to submit my book to the NAACP Image Awards.
When I returned to Saint Augustine’s College that October, for an exhibition of my art, I received the amazing news from my friend and PR person Carmela D. Smith. My book was nominated in the category of “Outstanding Literary Work Instructional”, and the nomination alone made me a winner as far as I was concerned.
