I. Jesus and the Messianic Mission
It will be absurd to try to understand what the mission of the Messiah entails, what God expects of the Messiah, and how we can tell the difference between the fake and the real Messiah at the Second Coming without understanding the person who actually stood in the position of the Messiah—Jesus.
On the foundation established by Moses, Jesus was able to come and pursue the messianic mission. Just like Moses, Jesus was born with the mission of the Messiah. The difference between Jesus and Moses is that Jesus overcame the challenges and fought Satan head-on. As a result of his demonstrating courage, faith, and dedication when challenged by Satan, he rose to and remained in the position of the Messiah.
The truth is that no one can be born a Messiah. A person chosen by God to become a Messiah must accomplish his responsibility in order to be confirmed in the position of the Messiah. Jesus was born pure and with the mission of the Messiah, but he was not born a Messiah. He had the potential to be the Messiah. He was born anointed and was set to become the Messiah. He had to work his way to his messiahship. It was the same with Moses and will be the same with the returning Messiah.
In God’s original plan, Jesus was to establish God’s Kingdom on earth and in heaven. Unfortunately he ended up encountering some very unfaithful and corrupt chosen people. Though God sent Jesus to rise to the position of the Messiah and become the king in His Kingdom, he ended up on the cross.
