The River Bend is a collection of short tales and anecdotes about growing up in the old River Bend of Seminole, Oklahoma, during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl.
This collection of anecdotes/tales/sketches were first published in the Konawa (OK) Leader in the mid-1990's. They describe a time and a place and a way of life that no longer exist; and although money was scarce and life was difficult for the grown-ups, the author remembers his youth as exciting.

The world I knew as a boy was thirty-six square miles of rolling hills surrounded on three sides by the South Canadian River. In the fall of 1925, when I was born, the River Bend was still back in the late 1800's, islolated not only by the wide, shallow south branch of the Canadian River but by bad roads, poverty, and ignorance.
