From an early age, we learn to love and laugh. As the years go by we loose the spirit of joy, the innocents of childhood gifts us with. Our eyes behold events that taint our dreams and clip our wings of passion with which we at first embraced all that life had to offer. As we rushed through life in pursuit of fleeting possessions, we often exchange more valuable for the more temporal. We forget ourselves. Out of the ashes of modern time emerges a poet like few others. A true romantic, infused with passion and dreams so desperate to touch and feel that these words are her way to touch you. To wrap you intimately within her fantasy woven to guide you back to the freedom of dreaming.

Lamentations of the Caves

The caves are filled with sorrow,

They cry up to the skies,

But upon the wind is where,

Those lamentations die.

Deep within the caves grow cold,

The sunlight never shines,

Deep within the caves we go,

For ourselves to find.

Excerpt

Loves Assassin

To save love I had to kill it,
Letting go of my heart and soul,
Letting him fly to the heavens away,
From this now broken and bleeding heart.

For a love so rare I let it grow,
But like a bonsai it had to be molded,
Patience and time are needed,
But first the life stem had to be cut.

My soul has been ripped in two,
My spirit is shattered and splintered,
With jabbing little pieces cutting into,
My heart and making it bleed.

The pain drives right trough me,
Renting at my very being like a razor,
Sharp and deep are those wounds left,
So cleanly cut the scars are inevitable.

So I have become Loves Assassin,
Sent to kill my very own love,
With my own hands I have laid it low,
Burying myself with the remnants.

Lover’s Feast

Come my lips and be my cup,
Let me drink loves sweet wine,
From cherry lips to embed,
Each sip with dulcety.

Come dermas and enable,
Me to feel my lovers touch,
So my senses may feast,
On passions bountiful buffet.

Eyes see what is spread,
Spread out before you,
Partake greedily of it,
Which will assuage the soul.

Come olfaction and bring,
To me nectars sweet scent,
Perfume my mind with,
My lovers lingering flavor.

Come tongue and taste,
That which my body hungers for,
Take lavish delight in,
The dripping juice of succor.

But stay away my heart,
Come not to this table to dine,
For here no place was set for you,
And cravings will go unfulfilled.

The Flight of Love

Love is like a swan,
So elegant in flight,
Graceful in water,
Dancing on liquid floors.

Two colors seen,
Black and white,
Contrasting gorgeously,
Bewildering observers.

The spring comes,
I feel it close,
Apprehensively I await,
The appearance of swans.

All summer I bask,
In the beauty,
As they bask,
In the seasonal warmth.

The winter will come,
It always does,
At the first sign,
They take flight.

So it is with love,
Sadly the winter will come,
I will be left,
By the flight of love.

Professional Reviews

Joyce Keegan
Rebecca, your poetry is very good. The words that come from your pen are so colorful and deep. You can tell by your writing that you are a deep thinker as all good poets are.I think someday you will be a known poet. Best wishes for that day. Joyce Keegan
