The Little Bible The Little Bible is written and illustrated by Christina Fez-Barringten. The Text is based on the “Good News Bible” Today’s English Version. It is a Bible for very little children. The simple colorful computer drawings are lovingly created in the early 1990’s; on the Dell-Computer program PAINT, to arouse the imagination of a child, to help to explain visually some of the mysteries of the Bible. They learn to understand that disobedience can lead to hard work and many problems. They see that there are angels who bring a direct message from God. They fathom that the Holy Spirit is there to care for God’s children all over the world. They learn to believe that our dear Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross, and if His children pray, Father God will forgive whatever they did wrong. And they will know, that we will one day return home to our loving Father who is in heaven and there we will be with Him until the Day of the Lord when Jesus Christ comes to earth with great power and glory, as King of Kings and Lord of Lords forever. 1. The Garden of Eden. When the Lord God made the universe, there were no plants on the earth, because He had not send rain, and there was no one to cultivate the land. So the Lord God took some soil from the ground and formed a man out of it; He breathes His life-giving breath in to his nostrils and Father God’s first child, Adam began to live. Then the Lord God planted a garden. He made all kinds of beautiful fruit-trees and flowers to grow there and animals to play with. And a stream flowed in the garden to water it. Then the Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to cultivate and guard it. He told Adam, “You may eat the fruits of any tree in the garden except of the tree that gives knowledge of good and what is bad. You must not eat the fruit of that tree; if you do you will die the same day.” Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for a man to live alone. I will make a woman for him. So the Lord God made the man fall in to a deep sleep and God made Eve, the Lords second child. Father God and His children lived happily together until that fatal day when the snake came to visit. Genesis 2 2. The Disobedience of Man Now the snake was the most cunning animal the Lord God had made. The snake asked the women, “Did God really tell you not to eat fruit from the tree in the garden?” “We may eat the fruit of any tree in the garden, the women answered, “except the fruit of the tree in the middle of it, if we do we will die.” The snake replied, “That’s not true; you will not die. God said that because He knows when you eat it, you will be like God and know what is good and what is bad.” The women thought how wonderful it would be to become wise. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, and he also ate it. As soon as they had eaten it they know why it was wrong what they had done. And when they heard the Lord God walking in the garden, they were ashamed and hid from Him among the trees. Then Lord God said, “Now that my children have knowledge of what is good and what is evil; they must not be allowed to eat fruit from the tree of life, and live forever. So Father God had no other choice, but to send His beloved children out of the Garden of Eden. Genesis 3 3. God Pronounces Judgment And He said to them, “Because of what you have done, the ground will be under a curse. You will have to work hard all your life to make it produce enough food for you. You will have to sweat to make the soil produce anything, until you go back to the soil from which you were formed.” The children knew now, to disobey there loving heavenly Father is wrong. And sin leads to death. Genesis 3 4. The Wickedness of Man When mankind had spread all over the world the Lord saw how wicked everyone was. And how sin spread like a virus from person to person The Lord God said, “I am sorry that I made any of them”. SIN 5. Noah’s Landing Bat the LORD was pleased with Noah. God said to Noah, “I have decided I am going to send a flood. Everything on this earth will die, but I will make a covenant with you.” So, Noah built a boat. When the flood came, he and his family and many animals he put in the boot with him, where saved. Genesis 6 6. God Calls Moses Noah and his family, their children and their children’s children lived after the flood. Sadly, so did Sin. Many circumstances and sinning people brought God’s children in to slavery. God saw how cruelly His people were treated in Egypt. In His mercy God called Moses. One day while Moses was taking care of his sheep on the holy mountain of Sinai, the angel of the Lord appear to him as a flame coming from a bush. Moses saw the bush was on fire but it was not burning up. Then he heard the Lord say, “Moses, Moses”! He answered, “Yes, here I am.” Then the Lord said, “I have heard my children cry out to be rescued from their slave drivers. I know all about their suffering. I have come down to rescue them. Now I am sending you to the King of Egypt so that you can lead my people out of his country.” Exodus 3 7. The Birth of Jesus is Announced. Now God had stretched out His mighty arm, and gave Moses power to lead His children in to the Promised Land, but they did not stop sinning and sin leads to everlasting death. Now there was no other way, God had to send His Son into the world, not to be its judge, but to be its savior. So God calls the angel Gabriel to tell the news to a chosen girl named Mary. Her husband to be was Joseph a descendent of King David. The angel said, “Peace be with you! The Lord is with you and has greatly blessed you. Don’t be afraid. You will give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be called the Son of the Most High God. The Lord will make Him king and His kingdom will never end!” “I am the Lords servant,” said Mary; “may it happen to me as you have said.” And the angel left here. John 3, Luke 1 8. Son of God Shortly after the angel left, the Holy Spirit came to Mary and Gods power rest upon here and gave her the tiny baby that had to grow in the protection of her stomach. For this reason the holy child will be called the Son of God. For God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son, so that everyone whom believes in Him may not die but have eternal life. Luke 1, John 3 9. Joseph At the time when Joseph and Mary lived, Girls were put to death, if they get a baby before marriage. But Joseph was a man who always did what was right; he did not want to disgrace Mary. While he was thinking about this an angel of the Lord said, “Joseph, do not be afraid to take Mary to your wife. For it is by the Holy Spirit that she has conceived. She will have a son and you will call him Jesus –because he will save his people from their sin. Matthew 1 10. The Birth of Jesus One day Joseph and Mary had to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem. And while they were in Bethlehem, the time came for Mary to have her baby. She gave birth to her first son, wrapped him in cloth and laid him in a manger-there was no room for them to stay in the inn. Soon after Jesus was born, three kings from the East came to Bethlehem and asked, “Where is the baby born to be the king of the Jews? We saw his star when it came up from the East and we have come to worship him.” Luke 2 Matthew 2 11. The Shepherds and the Angel And there were some shepherds in the field taking care of the flocks. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared to them. They were terribly afraid! “Don’t be afraid said the angel, I am here with good news for you, which will bring great joy to all the people. In Bethlehem this very day your savior was born-Christ the Lord! And the shepherds said, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see that what the Lord has told us. And the shepherds went singing praises. “Glory to God on the highest!” Luke 2 12. The Baptism of Jesus After Jesus grew both in body and in wisdom, gaining favor with God and man; he went out to the river of Jordan, where his cousin John the Baptist preached and baptized the crowds who came to see him. After all the people had been baptized, Jesus also was baptized. While he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit came down upon him. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my own dear Son. I am pleased with you.” Luke 3 13. The Temptation of Jesus Jesus returned from the River of Jordan full of the Holy Spirit and was led by the Spirit into the desert, where he was tempted by the Devil. And the Devil showed him in a second all the kingdoms of the world. “I will give you all this power and all this wealth. All this will be yours if you worship me.” Jesus answered, “The scripture says, “Worship the Lord your God and serve only Him!” Luke 4 14. Jesus Begins His Work Then Jesus returned to Galilee and the power of the Holy Spirit was with him. The news about him spread throughout all the world and many people followed him, because he was leading them in to green pastures and he said, “I am telling you the truth: whoever here’s my words and believes in Him who sent me has eternal life, “I am the light of the world; whoever follows me will have the light of life, and will never walk in darkness. Luke 4, John 5, John 8 15. Jesus is crucified Jesus is called by John the Baptist, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Jesus during his walk on earth made the blind man see, let the crippled walk, feeds the hungry and did many more miracles. But no matter, the Jewish leaders hated him and finely condemned him to suffering and to death. While the Son of God is hanging on the cross, and the crowds making fun of him, Jesus in his infinite love said, “Forgive them Father! They don’t know what they are doing.” And while Jesus was dying he showed his love to the criminals hanging next to him; one hurling insults at him, but the other one rebuked him, saying,” we are getting what we deserve, but he has done nothing wrong.” And he said to Jesus, “Remember me, Jesus, when you come as King!” Jesus said to him, “I promise you that today you will be in Paradise with me.” John 1, Luke 23 16. The Sinners Prayer And so, just like the criminal ask Jesus to save him, we too can say to our Jesus: Dear Lord I know I have done many bad sings. I truly feel sorry for what I did. I ask with all my heart, forgive me. From now on I will do whatever you say; because I believe you died for me on the cross, so that our Father God can raise you from death, to be my Lord and Savior. Now you and I can talk to our Lord Jesus because we know He is alive, but the disciples, who had just put Jesus in the thump, cold not believe that the man standing before them, alive and well, is their Jesus. But He said “How foolish you are, how slow you are to believe everything the prophets’ said! Was it not necessary for the Messiah to safer this things and then to enter His glory?” Luke 24 17. Jesus Is Taken Up To Heaven But, before our Lord Jesus went to heaven he said to all who listened “Go now throughout the world and preach the gospel to all mankind. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned”. After saying this he was taken up to heaven .Us they watched him a clout hit him from their side. And then, Jesus the Son of Man, will be seated on the right side of Almighty God. But Jesus himself said “I will return”. The glory of the Lords coming will surpass anything we can imagine. Mark 16, Acts 1, John 14 18. The Coming of the Holy Spirit Jest before Jesus was taken up to heaven, Jesus said something to His disciples they could not understand until it happened. He said “I myself will send upon you what my Father had promised. But you must wait in the city until the power from above comes down upon you.” When the day of Pentecost came, all the believers where gathered together in one place. Suddenly there was a noise from the sky which sounded like a strong wind blowing, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then they saw what looked like tongs’ of fire, which spread out and touched each person there. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak. Luke 24, Acts 2 19. Pentecost Continues There were people on the street, when they heard this noise they asked each other, “What does that mean. Are they drunk?” Soon a large crowd gathered. Then Peter stood up and in a loud voice he began to speak to the crowd: “These people are not drunk. Instead this is what God says: In the last days, before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes, I will perform miracles and pour out My Spirit on everyone. And then, whoever calls out to the Lord will be saved. And all will live joyfully forever in peace and harmony with the Lord of Lords and Coming King Jesus Christ. “ Acts 2
