Like Sparks The Notebook, The Honey Bee Girl tells the story of two teens-one new to the country setting of south Texas and the other finding his first taste of love. A story that makes you remember how your first kiss felt and the first time you trembled when that special person holds your hand...a day and time, a feeling you never forget for the rest of your life. The Honey Bee Girl takes you to a not so long time ago when youth held mystery and innocence, magic and wonder and bittersweet love and tragedy.

I scooped some shell dust up from the road in my hand and held it up, saying to Rae, “This is what a dust devil is made of, shell dust and wind. The wind comes from somewhere far away and finds the shell dust waiting. The wind talks to the shell dust in a mysterious voice and the shell dust is pulled along by some earthly magic. The wind and the dust are joined together in a dance of a peculiar rhythm above the ground. The wind curls around the dust like the embrace of some lost lover and they swirl into the air. The wind hugs the dust tighter and tighter, forming the twisting little tornado of shell dust and wind.”
Rae stared at me. Her eyes looked different and her face held an expression I had never before seen. Rae was quiet and her mouth was slightly open, with her lips parted. I almost thought she looked like she would kiss me. She swallowed and blinked her eyes but continued to stare at me, saying, “That is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.”
I could hear her breathing and the world seemed to get very quiet at that moment. I was silent for a few seconds and just listened to her breathing, in and out. I wanted to kiss her but I was afraid. She half-closed her eyes and leaned closer to me.

I miss my childhood, too!, April 24, 2006
I spent my Sunday afternoon glued to Honey Bee Girl !! It was a wonderful uplifting and inspiring piece of work!! Words can't describe how I felt as I drifted within the world of innocence, love and adventure. It is still echoing in my mind. It had a profound affect on me. I DO miss my childhood today. Again, thanks for the words.
Sincerely,
Rene
